Owners, Geoff and Karen offer you a warm welcome at The Cornish Arms in Pendoggett. Being situated 3 miles from the popular fishing village of Port Isaac makes The Cornish Arms an ideal base to make your stay in Cornwall a memorable one. We offer a variet
Called in for a snack at lunchtime and was very impressed. Lovely sandwiches made with huge doorsteps of the lovely thick bread. Mum couldnât eat both halves and the barmaid took the uneaten half and had it wrapped by the kitchen. Would definitely eat here again.

Great location for a local pub. Really great range of beers, including ones not available elsewhere. We received a lovely welcome, food ordered and came in good order. The food was nice and plentiful. Lovely touch was the kids toys. Place dog friendly too. Lovely place

The Maltsters Arms is a local friendly village pub, located in Chapel Amble near Wadebridge in the heart of Cornwall. This traditional pub is run by five locals who clubbed together and bought the pub. Two of the partners are chefs and they prepare and co
Popped in on spec and can honestly say this is the best meal Ive had in a long time. I had hake, kids had lamb burger and salmon and husband had steak. Absolutely beautiful, could not recommend this pub enough. Only downside was I couldnt manage a dessert. Lovely service too!

We stopped here for lunch on our way back to our holiday accommodation after visiting port Issac. We had a very friendly welcome and were shown to our table swiftly. Food was nice and the service was good. Nice, clean and comfortable. A visit is recommended by us for sure.

A group of 17 of us had Sunday lunch there. The service was friendly and efficient, although the food had started to cool when it came. As we were a big group, it did seem the vegetable portions were low. We pre-ordered meals, mostly roasts, and also had coffee and desert. We all enjoyed our meals and liked the corner where they were able to seat us all on one table. There were also fine with us paying individually and staying for a while chatting after the meal.

Came for a meal for a special birthday. Didn't know what to expect really but it is top heavy with fish. As one of us is not a fish lover, the menu was somewhat limited. What was left was just one meat dish and a vegetarian option. The weather was horrendous so what would have been nice would be something wholesome - maybe bangers and mash or a pie but neither were available. We padded it out with a starter and dessert but sadly at extra cost. Given we had to drive were unable to drink but given the price of a pint I was glad I didn't.Overall, I am not complaining what I had however instead of making it look pretty, put it on a plate, with a ladder up the side and then we eat it. Basically good wholesome food instead of lardy da pretty stuff. Will try again - maybe for Sunday lunch in the hope there is more than a roast on the menu when we go next time.

Just had a week in Cornwall based at St. Teath, This lovely little pub was only minutes away from our lodge, we received a very warm welcome, and the food was excellent. Defiantly worth a visit.

Been coming here for years and never had bad meal, but last week was an exception.Ordered the madras and gammon. The curry had very little sauce which was not spicy and bland in taste and the rice had not been drained properly so sitting in water.Gammon fine but chips were of poor quality.Shame as the pub and staff are lovely and and the food used to be worth the travel.

Charming 18th century public house with 2 restaurants and a bar serving Bbq'd steaks and fish, a selection fo tapas tapas alongside traditional pub food
Popped into the Red Lion on the first night of our holiday. It was a Friday night and we hadn't booked and they were full, but we were greeted with a warm welcome from the bar staff and saud they would be able to accomodate us in 15 minutes. Sure enough just after I had finished my pint of Tribute we were called through. The dining room is windowless and lacks a bit of character so my expectations on the food front was lowered. How wrong I was. The tapas starters were fab, my curry from the specials was very tasty and my wife's beef wellington was the best she had had. All served with smiling, chatty staff at very reasonable prices. We will definitely be back before we leave and I will be having the beef wellington!

Have been coming here since it opened. The food is still of an excellent standard but if Iâm honest, the menu hasnât really changed in all the years weâve been coming here. Fish and chips, mussels, beetroot salad, steak and chips, a fish dish etc - theyâve been on the menu all this time. Itâs all cooked to an excellent standard but the owner is playing it safe and this time around, there was only really one main course that we fancied. In the past, itâs been difficult to choose between 2 or 3. Prices have inevitably risen as before the value was almost too good to be true. Wine is of an average standard and no longer offers value. Thereâs a couple of the ownerâs Bordeaux reds on the menu at £38 which are way overpriced for what they are IMO. Thereâs a Douro red at £31 that knocks the spots off the Bordeaux. Coppa, pakora, fillet steak and deserts were all excellent and couldnât be faulted. Service this time wasnât as good as weâve had in the past. The waitress insisted on describing each dish in full while we were drinking our aperitif, despite us being fully aware of what the dishes were. There were a couple of gents serving that evening who were much more in keeping with the service I would expect. Sounds like an odd review from me as I canât fault the food which is executed to perfection so maybe I should should happier? But I guess Iâm beginning to feel the other touches like consistent service, general friendliness, (the owner is regularly onsite but rarely engages with her customers - in contrast to her social media persona), price vs quality of wine, and a more varied menu are missing, and donât match up the food quality. Dear Goatmasterfunk,Thank you for taking the time to leave your valued, however as you stated somewhat odd feedback. First I'm glad you appreciate the quality of our food, but I must disagree with your statement of 'the menu never changes' we change the menu on a daily and seasonal basis, since the start of summer we've had a complete change of chefs in the kitchen who along with Emily have brought their own dishes onto our menu which have never featured before. Yes, there may be dishes featuring similar ingredients that re-appear but that is due to us using ingredients that we love. The fact that you believe our wine list to be of an average standard shows you are lacking in some wine knowledge, we have put together an extremely well thought out list that features something for everyone, I myself am a huge wine lover and have worked within the wine industry, we also work with Liberty Wines to put our menu together, and they are one of the most renowned fine wine suppliers in the country. The team here never insist on talking through our menu, it's something we love to do to give customers our experience as well as explaining to guests where produce comes from and how it's prepared. We were unaware that you knew our entire menu and new dishes inside and out. The owner Emily is in the kitchen full time cooking as well as running the business, so I'm sure you can understand that after a long busy day she may want to take some time to herself to unwind, she always says hello to guests but is not someone to wander around the restaurant showboating whilst guests are enjoying themselves. To finish I find your review rather hurtful, personally upsetting and quite unnecessary. If you would like to discuss anything further with me please feel free to call.Regards,LiamRestaurant Manager
