The menu special on Wednesdays is a $10 Loaded Burger, so we decided to drop by BJ's for lunch. The wait staff has a good memory and recognized some in our group, which makes you feel welcome. The table collectively ordered four Loaded Burgers, two classic brisket burgers, and one each of the new menu offerings, a Bistro burger ("beef patty with applewood-smoked bacon, goat cheese crumbles, caramelized onions, tomatoes, spinach, pickled red onions and roasted garlic aioli on a toasted parker house bun") and a Mushroom Swiss Burger (beef patty with sautéed mushrooms, Swiss cheese, red onions, lettuce, tomatoes and roasted garlic aioli on a parker house bun). Everyone seemed to like their burgers. Although presentation was good and it was tasty, I did have one complaint: when I first picked my burger up getting ready to take a big, a very large amount of grease drained out of it and made a pool on my plate. I suppose some of it could have been from the Swiss cheese, but certainly not all of it. I'm not sure how they are cooking them, but it was a big turnoff.Burgers are served with a generous portion of fries (I learned yesterday you get free refills), which were crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle and perfectly seasoned. I can't imagine getting a refill. Service was fairly good and reasonable quick and at $10, the Loaded Burger is a good value. I think next time I'll try the Bistro version.

My husband wanted a steak dinner for our anniversary. He'd heard about Charlie Bloods-- it's been around a long time, but it's off the beaten path. We LIVED in Garfield, years ago, & never even heard about this place. It's a local bar with a restaurant in the back. Decor is like a theme restaurant (think TGI Fridays) only the REAL DEAL -- real saddles, cowboy boots, taxidermy done well (deer, goose, buffalo head, bear skin), pictures of John Wayne, classic 50's music, a wood-burning stove, dim lights (electric lanterns hanging off a wagon wheel)....eclectic. The food is Italian and American -- with specials in the $10 range. My husband had "The Duke" --a 24 oz ribeye. I had Eggplant Rollatine. My husband was happy, and I was so pleased with the Eggplant Rollatinen that it has become my new standard for all others to measure by -- crisply fried eggplant stuffed with plenty of ricotta, and a sweet, never acidic sauce (I've been back --it's always perfect!). The pizza served to another table looked great, and the calamari was good too. Try it and you'll want to come back, too. I can't wait to take my daughter, bring friends...we'll be back!

I went to the Dog & Cask for lunch the other day wanting to try it as I had passed it about a hundred times on the way home. I am not much of a craft beer person but I needed a burger really badly and decided to stop and try it out.First, the place is nicely decorated in all dark colors and they have a nice bar area up front. It was not very crowded for lunch so I ate at the bar. The bartender looked like someone who should work there, a real hipster-beer making type who was extremely laid back for someone waiting on people. It was quiet so he spent a lot of his time looking at his cell phone. In fact, his eyes were glued to it most of the time. The food and the service are very good. The burger was delicious. It had a salty caramelized outside and was perfectly cooked medium-well with cheddar cheese and bacon. The fries were hand-cut and cooked to perfectly. They were a little salty but still really good. The quality of their food is great but the emphasis is on beer which I do not drink, so I just had a Coke which did get me a look from the bartender.Overall it was a nice lunch but I would not make a special trip there unless you like craft beer which they have an extensive menu of and their prices for a meal are a little expensive for the surrounding area. It is a nice place if you like going to the bar for a drink.

The space and service was great. The food though was average... overall lacking in flavor. We were there as part of a large party and the space and service they gave us was very nice. Music was a little too loud but that might not have been in the restaurants control as there was a DJ.Hi There, Thank you for your review! Our chefs are more than happy to adjust spice levels according to your taste buds. On your next visit, feel free to let the server know to make the dishes spicier! Thank you,Mantra

Our party had leak and potato soup, salad, chicken francaise, salmon with mustard sauce, and beef tips. The dessert was apple crisp. Everything was very good, and the portions were enough for big eaters. The service was excellent. We will definitely return!

Good solid Italian food. Been going there for years. One of my favorites is sausage and pepper over ziti. Very family friendly and experienced and pleasant wait staff. Parking in front or across the street, but when it gets busy you may have to hunt for a parking spot. Highly recommended.Thank you for the great review! We are still a family run business for over 80 years!

I was traveling through Bergen County and found this place in Saddle Brook. What a great place. If you like different beers this place is for you great nosh, great beer, wonderful service. Our server Matthew was extremely knowledgeable in suggesting which beer we might like to drink. I had a salad, my husband had a flatbread pizza. It was just delicious. If you're in the area, it's definitely a place to check out.

Had a late night dinner there on a Friday night. We had to be the oldest people there but we can hang with the 20 year olds. The music was really loud but we didn't mind since it was music we actually do like. I had the bolognese. My husband had salmon tacos (the menu said mini and they were very small). He ended up eating some of my pasta. Our waiter was great. ! He was attentive without being over attentive. He did go out of his way to try to get a certain football game on the TV. He was successful. What is really good here is there beer selection. They have great craft beers especially Funky Buddha which is hard to find in the Northeast. I also had a strawberry martini which was amazing not too sweet just right. We would definitely go back again. Next time maybe a little earlier at night.
