This Bar, restaurant and grill is situated in the lively small town of Pontypridd. With a wide range of beers, lagers, ciders and wines, Barinis caters for everyone. As well as the drinks on offer, there is a large food menu to choose from with every dish
Visited this place a fortnight ago on Saturday 20th October.Having had a meal there previously, we didn't book and went on spec in the afternoon. Found the place to be quiet with perhaps just 8-9 people there.Having ordered just a main course each, the guy who took our order at the bar had problems putting the order through on the till and called someone from the kitchen for assistance.Having awaited our meals for about 20 minutes, my wife had her meal delivered yet I was asked by the same guy who served us at the bar if there were supposed to be two meals in our order? I just looked at him speechless and was tempted to respond by saying, ' no, I always come here to watch my wife eat!!' What a stupid question to ask!He said he would have to check with the kitchen staff and then returned a minute later to say there had been a mistake and my order had not been processed, despite having taken payment. As my wife had already began eating her meal I had no option but to await delivery of mine. The young guy was very apologetic and returned some 15 minutes later with my side orders - not my main meal. I was kept waiting for another 7 minutes before my meal finally arrived. Who the hell serves the side orders in advance of the main meal for crying out loud?I said I wanted to speak to the manager and he asked if I wanted to immediately but as I had awaited my meal for some time and it was in danger of going cold I declined, adding I would at the end of the meal. However, as the food was quite nice I decided against complaining and thought it would be far better to put a review on here instead. The fact that the restaurant was virtually empty with there being no pressure on their staff, should not have resulted in my order being overlooked. The place does indeed provide nice food (even if a bit basic) but that does not excuse very poor service, and without even an offer of a free drink to compensate. I would also add that the entire area was very cold and should have been heated but expect they forgot that too! It appeared that most of the staff are of student age and should be replaced by more competent, professional staff who know what they are doing. Will not return.

As a family we have enjoyed many a good Sunday lunch at the brynffynon. However today was a big disappointment. Something has gone very wrong. We had to go back to the bar to ask what had happened to our drinks. The service got worse. Deserts that should have been hot were cold. The wait between courses was really long. Then we were served with cold coffee. On leaving I was asked to pay the bill, which in fact my son-in-law had already paid. Not even a sorry from the waitress. It saddens me to write this review because we have enjoyed such good times there. Eira Linehan.

Popped in at random for an evening meal with my husband. Live locally but had swerved the restaurant for a few years due to a rude restaurant manager. What a difference! Lovely, helpful staff, food as amazing as remembered from before, perhaps even better! Definitely frequent more often from now on.

Attended the hawthorn pub with my partner who is from the area. Upon arrival We were met with friendly staff. We stayed for two drinks and decided to have lunch. There was a variety of food and none were out of stock which is my pet hate when going out for food. Food was quick considering it was busy. Very tasty and presentation was really good. Well worth visiting.

We kept our pub as traditional as a village pub should be. No pool table, no jukebox or machines, it really is a lovely atmosphere where people can talk and relax,. There is a very nice beer garden with childrens play area on the premises, which makes the
I've been visiting this pub for years and years. The decor is smart but suited to the building which is an old building. It's a proper traditional village pub. Great welcome from staff and locals food is excellent and home cooked. Lovely beer garden when weather permits. Great atmosphere when the rugby is on. Dogs on leads seem to be allowed but not sure if this is allowed in evening? Parking out the front and car park at rear. Toilets spotless.. Love this place

Booked in for Father's Day lunch. Good welcome. The food was excellent...plentiful and really well cooked and presented. Good value.Only downside, it was a bit noisy, but it is a family environment after all.Thank-you for your review. Yes, Father's Day is always a popular time for us so one can expect it to be a bit noisy. We are so glad you enjoyed the meal and we hope you will book with us again
