Located in a new strip mall, La Lupita is very new and clean looking with interesting wall art. The staff is very friendly and solicitous. However, the food was not very good. (Maybe because it was a Sunday evening.) When evaluating Mexican food, the "gold standard" for my wife and myself is carnitas. My wife ordered the carnitas tacos and I ordered the carnitas super burrito. Unfortunately, the carnitas were dry and tasteless. Interestingly, on the wall were taped pieces of paper and a white board with East Indian food items listed. Apparently, there is an East Indian connection to this restaurant, but we could not find out due to the language issue. We will not return.
Antlerâs is an old fashioned bar in Old Town Pinole (on San Pablo Avenue). A group of friends went in there early one evening as we intended to go to dinner at the restaurant across the street (Tinaâs Place â separate review). When we arrived, there was only a row of people, all sitting on stools along the bar. We kinda got the stink-eye when we came in so we started to get the feeling this was really just a neighborhood bar and that we werenât particularly welcomed. We sat at a table in the corner for a long while and were totally ignored by the bar staff. Finally a couple of our people went up and stood behind the bar huggers, and stood and stood. Apparently, the bar staff were having some computer issue with the cash register or some such, and it took two of them a long time to try to solve it. Eventually, one of the bartenders took our order, which we had to pick up and bring to our table. I give it 3 stars since they did serve a very nice Sauvignon Blanc, and we had the corner of the bar all to ourselves to enjoy our drinks. Canât say if it was an off night, but it was not a particularly warm and welcoming atmosphere.

We really have enjoyed Applebee's in the past but had a very disappointing experience today, Monday. Three items that we ordered were not available: onion rings, sweet potato fries, French onion soup. We almost got up and left. Then, when we were presented with the bill on their tabletop computer, the waitress had inputted a tip of 20%. The customer should be the one designating the tip! The waitress was standing right over me trying to intimidate me into signing for the 20% tip. She succeeded.

Came here before dinner for some drinks and appetizers. Enjoyed everything we tried. They have some indoor and outdoor seating if you want to walk with your dog. They arent that big so they probably get pretty busy at dinner time. Service was speedy and friendly.

We stumbled upon this place when we was visiting family. What a find! The food was incredible, the atmosphere is very modern and tasteful, it could be in any magazine. The Catalan pizza was awesome, as was the pear Romain salad and prawn cocktail. Definitely get the pork empanadas, delicious but hot. We finished off with the maple cheesecake which I wish I had right now. Good beer selection and full bar. We will definitely return. Also the service was some of the best weâve experienced in a long time.
