This restaurant is a real jewel! The food is simply divine and the service very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is a big part of the pleasant experience as well. Not to be missed if you appreciate carefully thought of, inventive and lovingly prepared food. I am so proud to be able to recommend this restaurant located in my home town.

This very rare countryside restaurant became one of our favorite places to dine. It is not far from the highway between JyvÃ¤skylÃ¤ - Kuopio and fairly close to the town PieksÃ¤mÃ¤ki. The restaurant is a former countryside school in village Vanaja, which is turned into a cozy restaurant. From outside you might doubt a little, because it really looks like a school!Plenty of space to dine in the old school facilities. There is a stage for live-music and a very nice lounge with a bar. The owners are very friendly and feel you very welcomed. Also children are noticed very nicely. The food is very tasty and there is plenty to eat. Especially the home made hamburgers! They serve buffet as well, which is also tasty.The "red" lounge is stuffed with old items from the good old years and has nice couches and the bar. All very comfortable.The restaurant is open in the weekends and often treat you with live Rock and Blues music! Free parking!!

Weâve had a lunch in UKKO twice recently and had a great experience both times. We had a muikku dish, nieriÃ¤ and falafel. All delicioia and fresh tasting. We didnât mind waiting a bit; preparing quality food from a scratch takes time. This is NOT a fast food place!
