A very low key neighborhood tavern. We were disappointed that we couldn't play darts but we were told if we wanted to bring our own darts that we could. We we were told that patrons walk off with the darts.Service was great and the food was fine. Very relaxing and we all enjoyed it very much and plan on returning.
El Malecon had a coupon in the Hartford Courant for a free Jamaican patty so I stopped in shortly after lunch on a Saturday. There was a buffet set out, but there was only one other patron who ordered off the menu. I redeemed my coupon plus purchased a second patty for my wife. After a 5 minute wait, I has handed a small paper bag with the patties and was surprised at how light it was. Turns out these patties are closer to cocktail size with a fairly light crust, but very little filling. The taste was just okay and feel the $2 price tag was a ripoff. Next time I get a craving for a Jamaican beef (or chicken) patty I will head to Scott's or Big Y.

Stopped into Whinstone after playing golf on Friday and found the food to be very good. Our foursome shard some wings, which were very good---cooked perfectly with just the right amount of honey BBQ sauce. I had the French Dip sandwich, which was recommended to me by the server. It was fabulous! Very tasty with a generous portion of perfectly cooked tender beef and just the right amount of cheese. My sandwich came with a side salad, which was fresh, tasty and a very generous portion. Prices are very reasonable---my sandwich with side was only $9. Service was attentive once we got their attention. Bottom line---if you are here plaing golf or in the area of West Farms Mall, definitely stop in for food that is much better than that of the chain stuff up the road near the mall. Oh, and a very good selection of draft beer as well.

The ambiance is nice and the food is very good. The sampler plate gives you a selection of various Polish specialties. The pierogi were perfect : tender dough and delicious fillings. Just a great selection for a Polish meal. The server Dorota is charming.

We had passed this restaurant many times because it is very conveniently located to a shopping area and cinema where we frequently go. We wanted to try someplace different for our anniversary lunch so we chose J. Timothy's Taverne. We were very pleased with the colonial pub atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu is eclectic -- so many choices! We both ordered the open-face crab melt sandwich with onion straws as the side. Delicious, and just the right portion size. We will definitely visit J Timothy's again soon to try some more of the many tempting offerings.
