Not many of these places left - a genuine, old fashioned pub with service by a landlord and landlady. Very welcoming to dogs. The night we went was also Richard's 70th birthday - when we rang earlier Margaret let us know about this because they were planning a party during the evening. Despite having to work on his birthday Richard couldn't have been nicer! The food is traditional pub food - pies, scampi and chips etc - freshly cooked. The beer is great. Seems to attract a nice local crowd of people, many of whom were coming to the party. We didn't stay for this but I hope Richard had a great time!

The room we stayed in was small but beautifully decorated and oldie worldly. Beautiful grounds with herds of deer. No television but not unexpected. The food cannot be described adequately the breakfast were fresh and tasty. The evening meals were out of this world steaks done on an open fire DELICIOUS the best I have ever tasted. I would stay again but in a different room.

Village pub set I n the heart of Trunch in Norfolk, ideal stop for walkers and holiday goers, serving real ale and freshly cooked food, dogs and families welcome
We were staying in a cottage in Trunch for the week with our dogs. Went to the crown on our 1st evening there with 1 of our dogs and received a warm welcome for us and the dog. Lots of vegetarian dishes to choose from, perfect for my daughter. The food came quickly and was delicious. So much so we returned a further 3 times over our weeks stay. The gin selection is large and varied and the staff are knowledgeable about each one. Craft ales and my favourite, prohibition lager, yum. Each time we were welcomed by Carmen and Ian and their daft dog (dont throw the ball for him ). If only we lived nearer it would definitely be my local. Highly reccomend and will be back next year (to see the dog ). Thanks to you both, doing a great job. Becki, Sam, Charlotte, Ellie and Wilfred the dog xx

The Vernon Arms is a traditional village pub serving quality home made food, caske ale and craft beer. Open all day every day with a large roaring fire, free wifi and beer garden. Lunch served from 12pm until 2ish and evening meals from 6pm until 9pm
Called in at the Vernon Arms for lunch on a round trip cycle ride from Trunch. Lovely atmosphere and bar area - obviously popular with locals and visitors. We had a couple of pints of local ale, two hot baguettes and a side of chips. As my other half had developed a puncture the owners went out of their way to assist us on quite a busy lunchtime, would definitely recommend if you are in the area.

Set overlooking the North Sea on the Norfolk coast, The Ship Inn is one of the oldest pubs in Norfolk dating back 300 years. We have become one of the finest destination pubs on the Norfolk coast, offering a warm welcome with breathtaking sea views. Diner
Had planned to stop for Lunch or dinner at the Ship Inn as had previously looked at website which featured a lot of seafood dishes. We had a drink in the bar and then asked to see the menu but we were disappointed to see just '' the usual'' pub meals, ie lasagne, burgers, fish & chips etc on there so we decided not to eat there. Bar staff very very friendly though and the restaurant did indeed look very nice but we can't comment on the meals
