I have lived in Southern Africa for years, and this was by far the best burger I have had. Moist burger, crispy buns, and onion jam was tasty! Also ordered the mojito, which was probably a 7 out of 10, but half off on a Saturday evening. Service was subpar. Had to find our own drink menus and waitress only visited table to take order and bring food. Never checked back to see if we wanted more drinks. If you are looking for a quiet evening, this is not your place. But overall a good experience.

Excellent service from Penuel. We both had the pizzas - the big fat greek wedding, and the tuscan. Amazing. The peppermint crisp pudding is to die for :)Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. We are thrilled you had such a good evening and I will be sure to share your appreciation with Penuel. Looking forward to seeing you again soon.

Previously Owl & Hare Pub & Restaurant recently renamed. Old World Pub restaurant serving freshly prepared, sourced mainly local food. Friendly atmosphere . Large selection of craft and local beers, good wine selection and cocktails. Open Friday nights fo
Enjoyed a Saturday night dinner. Unusual as apparently they don't normally open on Saturday nights as it's a day time venue except for Friday nights. They opened as two other restaurants were closed and there was a large group of "stargazers" in town. The setting is eclectic but homely and both the husband and wife team interacted with customers. Service was good. For starters we shared a "focacio" which isn't on the menu but they adapted and gave us this instead of a pizza which is listed on the menu. For mains the wife had lamb tagine with couscous which was tender and very tasty. Unfortunately the butter chicken was a let down. It had flavour but was a bit on the dry side and needed more gravy.Wine selection is limited but all wines appeared to be reasonably priced.Overall there was good value for money. Hi, thank you for your review. We hope to see you again. We try to introduce different dishes to please most palates and the ones that are not popular get taken off the menu. So butter chicken "Off with your Head". Cheers Denise

We are the ONLY authentic PUB & GRILL in the area, offering a wide variety of dishes at affordable prices. "Restaurant of the Year" was only competed for once, in 2012, & Duck 'n Dive won the award. Established 11 years ago, it is a well known landmark an
Malalane does not have plenty of bars or restaurants not connected to Lodges. This one is serves good beer, and fine pizzas. Just be aware that South Africans seems to love cheese. If it's not your favorite I would ask them to go light on it :-)

Good place, good beers (and a variety of it) but something is amiss. Price is as for all pricvate brewers a little expensive but maybe a German backgound plus German music plus Bock wurst, mustard, sauerkrat and fresh buns will make it "warmer"HelloWe appreciate the review. We do change our menu regularly and will see about taking some of the suggestions on board.Thank you again, the SBC Team

A small, friendly bush pub serving drinks and great fare at very reasonable prices. Served al fresco under a tarpaulin on a wooden deck. If you enjoy a rustic setting with great food, then this restaurant is for you.
We went to Tanks on our last night in Hazyview. Food was good but restricted menu. It is afterall a bush pub BUT the food was good, staff and management very friendly and we enjoyed the experience. Keep it up guysThank you. We are glad you enjoyed the food. Being a, Bush Pub, like you say, we whittled the menu down to:Four types of starters, ten types of gourmet burgers, three baskets, fish and calamari dishes, three chicken dishes, nachos, salad, our famous sous vide prepared steak with seven different homemade sauce options, three desserts and four options for kiddies meals. But all tasty, as you've said!
