Stayed at Mt Hutt lodge for a week of skiing and adventuring with my youngest son. Arrived late the first Friday night and were warmly greeted by the 6ft leprechaun behind the bar. On such a busy night, we were seated at the âtractorâ and ordered Moroccan Lamb pizzas - wow, they were good! Washed down with some great draft Murphyâs Irish Stout, I was already in love with this place. Thanks to owners and hosts Gary and Karen Manning for making our visits so enjoyable and memorable.

Called in as have dined here before. The lunchtime crowd was minimal (weekday) but the service was friendly and great. The menu was much more than your standard "deep-fried everything", with gluten free, dairy free and vegan choices available within a wide range of options. We both chose the seafood chowder. What a delight. A variety of seafoods in a creamy base, well balanced and served nicely hot with accompanying sourdough baguette. Service was timely, neither rushed nor tardy, and cheerful. Thoroughly enjoyable experience.Fantastic to hear. We are glad you enjoyed the chowder, a lot of effort was put into offering a tasty seafood chowder - which seems to be a rare thing in NZ !

We are a family restaurant and bar with attached accommodation. Crossroads Restaurant & Bar is a relaxed, modern Restaurant and Bar that offers a versatile dining experience â whether you are visiting us for business, a romantic escape or a family treat.
We spotted this place at the end of Methvenâs Main Street where most of the eateries seem to be. The pizza selection sounded good and they even had vegetarian one which our vegan daughter chose minus cheese. Our son had the beef burger. The final score was a United cereal 10 from the team. The base was thin and crunchy almost like a wood oven base. There was a good selection of topping including for the vegan one. Husband and wife team runner ng it were very warm and hospitable which made for a great night. We hadnât expected such high quality in a small country town. Silly us!
The Brown Restaurant & Fireside Bar offer more than one would expect from your standard pub fare with not only classic country pub favourites but a range of tasty mains dishes to suit all tastes and an extensive restaurant quality takeaway menu. We also o
'Special' should not mean either lax hygiene or disguised food past its prime. We both had the pork and slaw roll special and couple hours later violently ill with food poisoning all night. There was nothing else it could have been. My partner had commented on odd slaw whereas i thought gravy was bit strange. These guys need overhaul in food storage and prep. Eat at own risk.
