Arooga's

Yesterday 12/7/17 my work department had our Christmas party at this Arooga’s. Let’s just say it was the worst experience possible. The food was cold, and they ran out of food before everyone was able to get their first plate. There were only two staff members working this event. We had about 57 people and having a bar tender and a server work this was not enough staff. People waited for drink refills. I actually went to the bar to get drinks for my entire table. I’m very disappointed with this Arooga’s as I have gone here with friends and never had issues. I don’t believe I will be back to this Arooga’s for a while.

This local chain has several locations and this was our first visit to this location. Our server was pleasant and helpful, however our food was disappointing. We ordered the pretzel stix, served warm with extremely thick cheese sauce. My husband ordered the French dip, which was good, but more like a cheese steak with a side of au jus. I ordered the boneless garlic chicken wings, which were saturated in butter. The chicken wings were very high quality and it was a generous quantity, but instead of dressing them, the garlic butter was poured over them. It sounds like the pizza would have been a better choice.

My friend and I went for lunch on a beautiful summer day. We both ordered the salad with the crabcake and had the homemade blue cheese dressing. Our salads were huge and delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive! I will definitely be bringing back my family!

In Manhattan in 1965, there was no place where people could go out to meet friends and make new ones in an environment that was at once both relaxed and yet exciting. Then, Alan Stillman opened Fridays as a way, he said, "to meet Pan Am stewardesses." Sud

From the moment we were sat down at our booth our server Jamie was on. In under two minutes our drinks were on our table and we were ordering appetizers. In ten minutes from entering the restaurant, Jamie was bringing food and checking on us. The chicken and shrimp meal was really good. Our son really enjoyed his chicken fingers with fries, and my wife and i both enjoyed our appetizers.

Moe's Bar and Grill

I stopped at Moe's twenty years ago but quit going because it was too cold. Today it was rainy and chilly outside and cold inside. That did not seem to bother the tables full of patrons. I stopped today because one of the four parking spaces in front was available. The alternative is a walk up a steep hill or climbing a long set of steps. Inside is not a paradise for persons with walkers. A trip to the bathroom is asking ten people to move and a bathroom door too narrow to admit the walker. The food is reasonable but unexceptional. The "fresh cut" fries were not right out of the fryer even though business was brisk. Lots of wing orders but I did not find them that good.

Gilligan's

Reviewed By MrOcho

This was my first time to this unexpected upscale yet comfortable restaurant. There is an assortment of tables (regular, high), booths and bar seating. They even have an outdoor dining section. The combination of various lighting, location of large TVs, etc., took away any stuffiness that could have emerged from the décor. I would say this place had the best ambiance of the restaurants I have eaten on the area. The menu is more than adequate and was more animated looking inside than expected. They did feature Gilligan’s Famous Wings so that is where I started followed by the house special prime rib. Overall, I thought the menu prices were fair except for $1 plus cost a wing segment ($11 for 10) for what was described as medium sized by my waiter. They offer a broad assortment of tap beers and bottles and well as wine, hard ciders, etc.I was started with complimentary garlic bread which was nothing more than two slab pieces of white bread toasted with a hint of garlic butter. When the wings arrived, I was very excited to see that they were larger than average however this quickly went away after the first bite confirmed they were not crisp rather soft and limp. Considering this is the first restaurant I have seen that advertises and charges for double cooked wings you must serve them crisp, no excuses. I pointed this out to my server who smiled, walked away and later charged me on my bill. Wing Tut takes his wings seriously and deducted Wingyptians points for this gaff. Overall the hot buffalo sauce worked well, and they were just juicy enough but not as juicy as I would have liked. My Wing Tut rating is 7.1/10 Wingyptians, landing this place at the #9 spot on the list of 24 restaurants I have had wings at in the Carlisle area since February 2019. The boneless prime rib special ($28) came with two sides. I decided upon a side salad and a baked potato. The side salad was a nice mixture and the balsamic vinaigrette was very good, also a little spicy. The prime rib was cooked to order and was very tender and juicy. As they say in NY, “like budda”, lol! They provide a small cup of au jus on the side which was tasty and not as salty as most places. There was about 8-10% waste / fat which is acceptable for this cut of beef. The baked potato was average in size and taste. It was disappointing that they serve sour cream in a small pre-packaged container which is a low budget diner move and not something they should be doing in this place. My Prime Minister of Beef rating is 8.3/10 Moo’s landing this place at the #3 spot of the 15 places I have had beef at in the Carlisle area since February 2019.My overall rating placed this restaurant at #9 of the 69 restaurants I have eaten at in the area since February 2019.

This was my first time to this restaurant. The access point from the parking lot features a very attractive artificial creek running from the upper area where there is a lawn and outdoor seating. There are two entry ways, the first goes into the bar area and the second, which is the main entrance, leads into a very large “warehouse” where they house their beer fermentation tanks, etc., and a large bar. They also have picnic tables and game areas (corn hole, pinball machines).I entered the main entrance and waited at the greeting stand where it said “Wait to Be Seated” but no one was there, so I waited a while, then gave up and headed to the small bar and asked the bartender where I should sit. The bar seats about 8 and there are table seats for another 40 or so. They offered a beer menu, a regular dinner menu and a smaller BBQ menu.My order was the Nachos ($10) - tortilla chips, IPA cheese, jalapeño, salsa, pickled red onion, pico de gallo, sriracha sour cream, queso fresco and braised BBQ pork ($3 add) and full brisket ($19) with two sides, which I selected coleslaw and fries. You also get two sauces (BBQ, pineapple BBQ , General Tso, spicy shishito, Buffalo, blueberry habanero, Fresno chili sweet & sour and sweet chili glaze). My server recommended the Blueberry and Fresno Chili. What I Liked:- The Saleado IPA was very good and came in a generous size glass for $5!- The nachos with shredded pork was excellent! It was a larger than expected offering and at $13, I considered it a value for the size and quality. What I Did Not Like:- No one was at the greeting stand with the sign, “Please Wait To Be Seated” which was an early sign of inattentive service to follow- Service was not attentive once my order was taken. He did not bring my second beer and came back after I was done with the meal to see how things were going.- The brisket was served by a food runner while I was about a third of the way through the nachos, so it sat there getting cold as I finished. This happens all too often around the area and is really a bad practice.- The brisket was served on a rectangular metal plate with wax paper between it. Because it sat so long the wax paper got saturated, and unknown to me adhered to the bottom of the brisket. Unfortunately, I ate a good amount of it before I realized what was happening! Those are two significant miscues that are inexcusable.- To make matters worse, the brisket turned out to be too soft and rendered itself into mush. Also, neither of the two recommended sauces paired well with the brisket.- The coleslaw serving was much smaller than I would have expected as a side offering and was not that good. I did not eat all of it.- I wanted ketchup with my fries, but my server never came back, so they got cold and I ended up not eating them- When I told “Mike” about my experience he shrugged it off and asked if I wanted the checkMy Prime Minister of Beef rating is 7/10 Moo’s landing this place at the #12 spot of the 24 places I have had beef at in the Carlisle area since February 2019.My overall rating placed this restaurant at #41 of the 111 restaurants I have eaten at in the Carlisle area since February 2019. The poor service and wax paper incident dropped their rating by 17 spots on my list.

We went here for a meet-up with some long-time friends over dinner. With the open architecture (which I generally liked), it made it a bit loud, but it didn't take away from the overall atmosphere in this new building. The staff here was friendly throughout our visit. In general, the beer was good, and we all enjoyed our selections. Our kids really enjoyed the soda that they had on tap, which was a great idea. Our food was more of a mixed bag; my wife ordered a beet salad, which came actually with very little beets. I went with the brats and pierogis; the pierogis were good, and the brats were OK...they actually seemed to taste more like breakfast sausage rather than a bratwurst. So, overall, this was OK; the beer and service was good, and the food the weak spot.
