Locally themed bar and eatery, which is guaranteed to make your day better. Great New Zealand fare, tap beer, live music and good times.
Stopped for lunch during road trip and were delighted with the atmosphere and lunch menu. Decided on the Soup which was on specials board and were very impressed with it. Cheesy Cauliflower and Bacon soup with Turkish Bread. Very impressed with the size of the servings and the attention from the staff.

Relaxed pub atmosphere and very friendly staff. Food was quick to come out. Both the wife and I had fish 'n' chips. Was SO delicious! The fish was fresh and the batter was so light and crispy. I could've eaten the entire meal twice as it was so delicious (if I had the stomach room for it!). Their desserts also looked really good but we were too full from the meal to try any of it.The staff were super friendly and pleasant. Once you're done your meal, head to the till at the bar to pay. Affordable food. On our receipt was a coupon for free Subway if we enter a code online. All in all, lovely little pub. And they also have accommodation too.
Good Merchant is a fresh, modern provincial pub in the heart of Matamata offering welcoming kiwi hospitality mixed with great food and locally brewed craft beers and ciders. Located in a former farm supply depot the pub continues this fine tradition reple
