This used to be a dark little bar in an out of the way place. But under new management, it hasn't changed except that they serve a half pound burger with fried onions that is to die for. Perfectly cooked, tender meat, and, of course, fried onions. They're very busy over the noon hour so if you have the time, go around 1:00 PM.

Ten people, ten different dishes, only the prime rib and coconut shrimp half edible. Other shrimp dishes--from badly fried crispy to over boiled Alfredo--were unacceptable. Rack of ribs: tasteless and blah! Salmon overcooked with a dry rice pilaf (several days old?). What should have been a nice evening was ruined by a badly skilled chef. Now for the bartender: we were purposely stalled in the bar for their "unhappy hour"--restaurant was empty with the salad bar beckoning us. Not to be, we were told "table not ready" though it was set up right before us. Martinis served lukewarm and watered down, "old fashioned sweet" disgustingly syrupy sweet, regular old fashioneds very bitter, and my god, how can you screw up a gin and tonic??? One success: bartender got the whiskey over ice right. Oh, don't try to share your two for one drinks--you have to drink both yourself.Bottom line: avoid, avoid, avoid!

Heard good things about this restaurant and that there was a new chef with new ideas. The menu reflects some different things, i.e. Duck, Croque Madame', etc. The best feature of our meal were the appetizers. Spinach dip made with fresh spinach leaves and served very hot and very cheesy. It was wonderful. Susie suggested the ranch dusted Cheese Curds. They were also awesome, enough for a family of 4, dip them in warm beer cheese. Totally wonderful. The drinks were tasty.

We stopped here after an appointment at the Marshfield Clinic. It was about 1:00 pm. The place was not busy, and we were seated promptly. Our orders for food took too long (over 20 minutes) but the food was good. Server wanted to pass time of day with co-workers. I would go back.

The place was packed when we got here. It is popular and it isn't very big maybe 20 tables. We were either going to wait or sit at the bar. There was a fish fry going. We sat at the bar which worked out ok but the seats are higher. We ordered got our food and drinks is a little while. The food was good and service at the bar wasn't bad but you have to remember the bartenders also are feeding drinks to customers. All in all it was good but it was also really noisy and that is why I didn't give it a 5.

My Bride & I needed to do a âbrief getawayâ for a day, and headed over to Marshfield. We read about the Blue Heron on TripAdvisor, and decided to give it a try. SOOOO glad we did! Everything started with our Server, Brianna. Try to get her as your server. If you have to, sneak in some cheese sticks to hold you while you wait for a table in her section, itâll be worth it, sheâs really good, and a lot of fun.I had their home-brewed Honey Blonde, and it went very well with my âPorky Got Slawedâ pulled-pork sandwich and hand-cut fries. My Sweetie had a bottle of the Maiden Rock Honeycrisp Hard Cider to go with her âTree Hugger Wrapâ (spinach wrap stuffed to overflowing with what seemed like an entire bushel of fresh veggies and black beans) and AMAZING kettle chips. WOW!! Somehow, we managed to save room to split an order of the Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake. This cake is so delicious, that itâs probably illegal somewhere. Probably in Utah. But it IS legal in Wisconsin, and available at the Blue Heron BrewPub in Marshfield, so get it!RedBear, I can see you have an eye for the finer things in life. You mentioned so many of my favorite foods and beverages (Maiden Rock Cidery and Winery is a great day trip) and Bri served it all well. Thanks for sharing your experience and do come back soon.
