The Forge Inn - Village Pub & Dining is Passionate about Freshly Prepared, Sustainably Sourced Food, Cask Ale & Wine - We love what we do & like most businesses we are not perfect but we try hard- so if we get it wrong give us a chance to put it right! :)
We had a fantastic meal here last Saturday afternoon.Unfortunately, they ran out of pork just as I ordered but the lamb we had instead was incredible. We'll now need to go back to see if the pork is better...... not possible I'm sure. The staff were very friendly and helpful too.

We visited and booked a table in advance for 7.15pm on a Saturday night as management could not seat us at 7.30pm. We arrived spot on time and had to stand around for 10 minutes before we got a table !! My main course was 6 scallops in a rhubarb syrup - they were nice - but cost 21 quid. The damson fool didn't taste of damson and was very weak. Four of my five slivers of cheeses were rather old and probably been in the fridge for ages - for 9 quid ! my mum's belly pork was a mixture of hard crust and mushy meat with a portion of crackling that tasted like pork scratchings. Overall poor value for money.

Went here for Fathers Day with my daughter. Arrived, shown to our table , drink order taken and just left by the waitress. Could see the drinks on the bar sitting there for about 10 minutes. Eventually the licencee (I assume) brought them over. Still no waitress visit, so no menu. We could see the carvery which we both wanted so we joined the short queue, assuming that was the correct action.. (will come to the food later).....After the meal, the waitress collected the plates and gave us a menu. Then no revisit to take our order. She went around us, wiping tables and then gave a family their menu, took their order and gave them their food (in a staggered fashion I noticed). Still we sat there waiting for our order to be taken. Eventuall she came. I said nice Sunday Menu, why didnt you give us one at the beginning as we may have chosed something else. She informed us that chef is busy and they were not offering anything else! Still would have been nice to know! The food: I had 2 very thin slices of beef - I should have asked for another. Decent selection of veg, but only luke warm. The yorkshires resembled a pancake. I like mustard and horseradish with my beef, but they were the cheapest of the cheap. Mustard disgusting and horseradish as hot as whipped cream! Will not be returning. The licencee was a wet weekend and he obviously cant manage his staff to provide an acceptable level of service!

We returned to the Birch tree for an early evening pint and a meal last night (26/08/2019) This is our forth visit over the last few weeks and as always the food was excellent. The waiting staff and the manageress were prompt and helpful. I tried a Garlic Mushroom starter and the large Yorkshire pudding with all the fillings last night and it did not disappoint. I can also recommend the fish pie with Veg and chips. I would recommend a visit and try it for yourself. Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review we look forward to seeing you again warmest regards sara & Jamie

The Wheatsheaf Inn is a friendly, traditional pub and restaurant at the heart of the Woodhouse Eaves community. The inn dates back to the 18th century and used to be a meeting place for the local slate miners, when it was know as the 'Slate Splitters Arms
We visited the Wheatsheaf Inn on a dreich, rainy Friday for lunch. We received a warm welcome on arrival and the server was very friendly and attentive. There is a traditional bar and restaurant with olde worlde character. The quaint rooms have low ceilings with beams. There is also outside seating area and a car park at the rear.We chose 2 mains with drinks. The cordon bleu chicken burger was delicious and filling. The chicken breast was substantial and covered in hot melted cheese. The pork schnitzel was coated in crispy buttery breadcrumbs. The pork was thick and juicy and well cooked and came with a soft and runny fried egg plus skinny fries and peas. The prices are reasonable and there is a fully stocked bar with several real ales and wines by the glass. Definitely a good place to visit for lunch.

Quiet possibly the longest wait, for the worst Sunday roast I have ever eaten. The food must be either frozen and warmed up or microwaved. I ordered the roast with all the trimmings and I'm sure my local morrisons cafe would be able to show the kitchen staff how to cook.Thank you for your review. We are sorry that your visit was not to our usual high standards. Having just taken over we would love to see you again to show you how amazing we are. Many thanks

A gastro-pub serving stone-baked pizzas and great pub food on the doorstep to Bradgate Park, Newtown Linford.
We visited the Bradgate on Saturday for a family get-together. We'd reserved a table but it would have been noisy for my parents who are both octogenarians so I asked to move. No problem. They moved us to an area called 'The Study' which is almost like a private dining space. Perfect. They were very accommodating with the way my family arrived in dribs and drabs and the proprietor (I'm guessing) took some lovely photos for us. The food itself was tasty. The pizzas looked wonderful and the pie of the day a veritable feast. I highly recommend this place.

Reeceâs is located in the heart of Groby. We serve everything from breakfast to Sunday carverys. All cooked fresh and using quality ingredients.
We visited Reece's today on our way to spending some time a Bradgate Park, Leicester. We had seen all of the 5 star reviews on TripAdvisor, and wanted to see what all of the positive feedback was about. WOW! We were extremely impressed and will definitely make this our 'go to' place when in the area. We were met by Reece when we arrived, and he was an excellent host. We also had the pleasure of meeting Wendy who is the friendliest restaurant/bar person we have met to date. The atmosphere at Reece's is excellent, the food is top quality and cooked to perfection. If you are looking for a venue that is proud about the food & service they provide, without the 'airs and graces' then we recommend you visit Reece's in Groby. You will really enjoy the Full Breakfast, and 3 of us choose that, with a mix of egg orders of fried, scrambled & poached. I had the poached egg option, and they were the best cooked eggs I have had in ages. This is an excellent, honest, decent venue serving great food with top customer service. Next time we will visit after 1pm so that we can sample the homemade 'a la carte' restaurant, and will also visit on a Sunday lunchtime so that we can sample their renowned Sunday roasts & carvery. Reece & Wendy - you have hit gold providing excellent quality meals at reasonable prices, and we look forward to seeing you again very soon. Best wishes, Faz, Wendy & the girls xThank you so much for this review!! These sort of reviews make everything I do worthwhile! Iâm so pleased you and your family enjoyed your visit, and I hope to see you guys again soon!! Thank you again!
