Beer battered fish of the day with chips and salad was beautiful. Salad was fresh and well seasoned. Chips were crisp and fish perfect. The Wagyu Beef was not so good. It was tough and showed no marbling. I wondered if, indeed, it was Wagyu. When mentioned to the waiter it was tough, he seemed surprised and said it was sous vied, so it shouldnât have been tough. The vegetable which accompanied the beef were delicious.

Real Food, Real Music At the Duke we love to share the best of Tasmania. So we source our food locally, our artwork is local, as are our musicians, and our extensive collection of Tassie Gins and Whiskys. Live music every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and
The food was really bad. The food was overpriced - you are paying upscale restaurant prices for pub food. The bartender was nice but some woman or manager was just rude and didnât seem to have service industry background. Not friendly. Very busy on wed trivia nights. The most brightly lit blues bar Iâve ever seen. Seems to get good reviews but I donât understand why - maybe because it has no competition and is trying to be everything at once? The music is good. I recommend donât go - but if you do go for the music/trivia night but not for the food and not for the service . Awful

Welcome to Botanica Bar and Restaurant Salamanca Hobart . Situated in a transformed Georgian Sandstone Warehouse, inspired by the beautiful surrounds and mystique of Salamanca, Botanica features the best of our local distilleries, breweries and delicacies
On our recent trip to Hobart we visited Botanica twice. Great wines...the house pinot gris and house pinot noir (Icon) were fab. Small plates shared included calamri, fat chips and aioli, popcorn chicken with chilli...all fresh, perfectly cooked and great flavours. We were there on a busy Friday night..table outside..lots happening, a great spot to people watch and enjoy a drink or two. Prices reasonable ...this one is a must in Salamanca!

Strongly suggest a visit when travelling south from Hobart. An older style pub with an interesting past and brilliant views of the marina and across the D'Entrecasteaux Channel to Bruny Island. On my recent visit, the locals were very friendly and willing to chat about Kettering, Bruny or boats.Meals are served from the main bar or a restaurant. I chose the bar service and thoroughly enjoyed some grilled local scallops, chips and salad ($30). The meal had fresh ingredients and the serving was plentiful. Complimented by a well poured schooner of Cascade Draught. The blackboard menu focused on local seafood but also covered a range of pub standards â Schnitzel, steak and even curries. Kids meals were available. I recommend a visit for a drink, or meal. A nice way to relax and wait for the Bruny ferry, or reflect on your trip to the island. Did I mention that view from the deck? The real Tassie pub experience.

We had an evening meal here after a long drive from Launceston. The food was basic and there was not much atmosphere. Even though we were in the area for 4 nights we decided not to return .... much better places down by the water.Sorry to hear that you didn't return during the 4 days. We have taken the feedback on board and look forward to you hopefully giving us another go!

Sunday afternoon and lunch on the lawn, a full house with kids and dogs included and everyone having a good time. This beachfront pub is doing a good job in providing a family-friendly setting where people are welcomed. Hotel staff handled the large crowd well with meals arriving in a timely fashion. The food was good ranging from simple snacks (the hot dog I had was authentic and very tasty) through to great fish and chips and more elaborate dishes including the ubiquitous "parmi". Now hosting a two-year old's birthday with over 20 guests ranging in age from 2 to 70 is always going to be a challenge but Salty Dog did it in fine form with its easy tolerance toward children and dogs. The kids had a ball - I can't remember a local restaurant other then McDonalds with its playgrounds that was so kid-friendly. Service is by ordering at the bar with meals delivered to tables, drinks likewise. The only challenges were around attempting to book some tables in the garden for 20 - for whatever reason this proved too hard but in the end there was plenty of room and table space. They were also obliging about us bringing in a birthday cake charging $20 for providing serviettes and a knife which we thought was reasonable. Well done Salty Dog - you've made some likely return customers over your customer service and great open space.

Craft bar on Kingston Beach, celebrating good booze from near and far! Cocktails Local gin Whiskies of the world Craft beer on tap Unique spirits and liqueurs Bar food Hobart's most scenic southern beach
Beachside location, open til late which is not always the case in Hobart, professional, friendly staff in a small place, not a huge range of cocktails but ideal if you want to discover a hidden gem!

Had dinner at the snug Tavern a couple of weeks ago with a large group. The meals were exceptional.....The meals came out in good time and they were fantastic and very generous servings too. It wasn't a cheap place to eat but when the food is great you don't mind. I had Tasmanian scallops and it is quite hard to find Tassie scallops these days especially at a pub so I was quite impressed.
