We decided to check out the happy hour at the new Boot Key Bar & Grill, which has been open for several months. Happy hour is offered at the pool bar, only. Along with fresh air, youâll get a good dose of second hand smoke. Be prepared to sweat buckets in the afternoon sun. We were greeted promptly and served a draft ($4 happy hour price) and given menus. There was only one bartender for the Friday, holiday weekend, happy hour crowd. There was a shift change about ½ hour before happy hour ended and service came to a standstill while the till was counted and customers were asked to close out their tabs. Our beer plastic cups were only empty briefly before we received a refill. There was no offer to order another before happy hour expired at 6PM. We did order two happy hour appetizers ($2 off during happy hour). The buccaneer fries (potato planks) were good ($4). The naked wings ($6) are advertised as baked. There are 10 to an order. We ordered extra crispy buffalo wings. The wings were not extra crispy and tasted somewhere between buffalo and sweet BBQ. The leftover wings were much better after a trip under the broiler to crisp them up.

My wife and I stayed at a nearby hotel (Marriott) and walked over to dinner. The outside patio seating was full, so we dined inside. Our server Chris K was amiable and helpful. The salads are big portions. I enjoyed the Mates Cut prime rib. It was delicious. There was a good variety of wines by the glass. Towards the end of the meal, the service was slow. We decided to skip dessert.

We stopped by on a rainy Monday. Sat at the bar and the bartender quickly took our order. We split the conch fritters which are AMAZING. Service was good and the bathrooms are IMMACULATE. BUT MY HUGE PROBLEM IS SMOKING INSIDE. I understand part of the restaurant is open but I thought smoking inside was a thing of the past Yes I sat at the bar which isn't far from the tables that children sat at.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner - Seafood, Steaks, Sushi, Prime Rib Lunch and Dinner Daily. Full Liquor Bar and 52 BEERS ON TAP Indoor and Outdoor Waterfront Dining In Business since 1951. Voted Best Overall Restaurant in Marathon 4 years.
My wife had the grouper and I had the snapper Mazalan. Both dishes were very good. They have an extensive menu for seafood and drinks. The chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream desert was marvelous and worth stopping in for it alone. Tracy, our server, was very attentive and provided extraordinary service. Downside is while it is on the water, it is more of a canal. Still, I recommend the Castaway to you.
