Moved to Tydd St Giles recently and was delighted to find such a lovely village pub. Friendly locals, great ales, and extensive food menu. The Steak and Ale pie has become a particular favourite of mine already. Hats off to Mick the landlord who makes these himself using his secret recipe!

The rooms at the Riverside are OK for a one or two-night stay. They were clean and functional although could have done with thicker curtains to block the morning sunshine from lighting the room up too early in the day. The staff were friendly and helpful and the beer was great and we had a good Full English on the Sunday morning. Good signal on the WiFi. Downsides? Quite a few steps to negotiate from the front although thereâs level access at the rear. Quite a musty smell in the breakfast area.

Just had an amazing Sunday roast at the five bells. Snowing and cold outside, inside was a blazing fire and great hospitality. Cannot praise food eough. All freshly cooked, not frozen and heated through also very reasonably priced with more than enough to fill even the biggest eater. Bar service was great, greeted cheerfully and couldn't be more helpful. Highly recommend for both food and ambience

A restaurant within a 300 year old English country pub serving traditional English food as well as a number of international dishes. Seats around 30 - 40 people. They use locally sourced produce and it is prepared and cooked on the premises. Pet friendly.
Always get a walm welcome when going to the old black lion pub, great atmosphere with darts or a game of pool. Tried the food today and was beautifully cooked, definitely recommend anyone near the area to visit the pub and enjoy a few pints.

Visited here for the first time for a days golf. Access was difficult due to a road closure but we were able to get in through a back entrance and a gravel road through the course - watch out for flying golf balls! We had tasty sandwiches and soup before heading out on the course. The course itself is a pleasant walk and fairly flat so you donât really need a buggy apart from on medical grounds. Thereâs a number of dogleg holes so position is everything. The course has struggled during the dry summer with cracks appearing in the fairways big enough to swallow a golf ball! The food in the clubhouse was excellent and was served by friendly staff. This is a proprietary club but the clubhouse bar has a real members club feel which is great. Would play again if in the area.

A beautiful Pub with fantastic food and friendly locals. This was our first visit to our local since moving to the area and unfortunately our last as the Landlady had a terrible attitude towards my wife in front of all the guests, and then proceeded to bad mouth her in the kitchen which we could clearly hear. A terrible shame !!!!

Went today. New menu. Food fantastic. Staff as always just lovely. Didnât ever think anybody could care about the Granary as much as Dana. But I was wrong. As Sheena and Donald are really really trying and succeeding.

The Ship is a traditional English thatched roof country pub that serves good quality homemade pub fayre from steaks and burgers to Fish Pie and Lasagna, it is steeped in history dating back to 1690 with its oak beams and roaring fire, perfect place to enj
We have passed this restaurant several times, it always looked full so we decided to book Sunday lunch. The staff were friendly and helpful, they took our order and the food was quickly served...Sadly the first thing we noticed was the waitress took our serving spoons out of her pocket, the roast meat was served, but there was a wait for the vegetables and gravy...Again sadly everything was cold, and the tin serving dishes were very cold apart from the broccoli..we think it was cauliflower cheese, not sure on that one, no cheese sauce. The Yorkshire spuds were lovely, and also the roast potatoes.I had the turkey, the others had the beef, mine was tender..but the beef was tough, even though it was cooked rare, the other tables on either side of us , were also making comments...We understand how difficult it is to make a perfect Sunday lunch, I don't think that we are " picky" we felt it just needed a bit of tweaking..hence our score..
