Reviews on Pub food in Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. Kyoto is Japan's most traditional city. The lush and verdant cityscape encompasses sprawling rock gardens, vast palaces, and tall temples. The streets are alive with businessmen hurrying past Geiko and Makio in their full kimono, both on their way to work along cherry-tree lined walks. A historic hub that celebrates Japanese culture, from kabuki to textile weaving, Kyoto can also be surprisingly modern. It is one of Japan's largest, busiest, and most visited cities, with packed shopping mega-centers and high-rise offices. Suffused with shrines, outdoor markets, and nature walks, the small but bountiful location is also home to some of Japan's most contemporary architectural marvels, hippest cafes and eateries, and modish local brands and shops. It makes Kyoto a playful and sublime city, studded with as many bars and hole-in-the-wall fried food shops along the Kamogawa river as it is suffused with ancient ryokan and delicate wagashi shops. Kyoto is in the cross-hairs of Japan's most artful past and its energetic present.

"I'd like people to feel comfortable with the city of adults, the city filled with the atmosphere of Kyoto," Pontocho "that seems to be a little high in such a threshold Birth of such a feeling, Yakiniku bar ⪠enjoyable for reasonable ⪠It is also a short
We enjoyed the 'Yakuri's favorite Seven Stairs Wagu', the bbq fries and finished with the peach compote with vanilla ice cream. The beef was really good, of course some cuts were better than others, the chicken and pork were tasty as well. The dessert was good but not really a compote, it was a peach half nestled in ice with a scoop of ice cream on top. I had the red wine sangria and really enjoyed it. A great way to start off our Kyoto stay!

When you've had your share of the wonderful Japanese food throughout Japan, but yearn for something a little more familiar, there is only one place to go! Join us at Fortune Garden Kyoto where you can enjoy our chef's wide range of dishes using Kyoto's lo
We dined at Fortuna Garden our first night in Kyoto. We were advised that they would cater, or have options for a vegetarian diet. Upon being seated, the server clarified our dietary restriction which was noted in our reservation. The menu marks only 2 items as vegetarian. However they were able to offer a linguine pasta to accommodate. The appetizer and pasta were well prepared and tasted fine. We ordered the Melon Zuppa for dessert because we love panna cotta. This was the biggest disappointment in dessert, especially to panna cotta we have had. The melon was still frozen when it was served. And the ratio of fruit to the panna cotta was off.The service was extremely slow. We understand the language barrier, but this barrier seemed very difficult to overcome. Any question we asked, from wine to dessert, our server would walk off saying "just one moment please." Moments later someone else would come by asking if everything was ok. Imagine this happening for every time you're trying to order something. We couldn't figure out if our server simply had too many tables or the restaurant's service is slow. We were served water half way through our meal and were never asked again if we wanted a refill on our wine, instead the glasses were just taken away. The vibe of the place is great. The back of the restaurant is open to a small bamboo garden. The music was upbeat and fun.Dear 581anishs,Thank you for taking time to share your experience with us and the great community here on TripAdvisor. The atmosphere seems like you liked, and we are also happy. We are sorry for not being able to enjoy you about service and food.We can listen to valuable opinions, share with us and our staff, and we hope to improve them.Thank you very much for using our restaurant.

You can drink & shooting airguns!! can feel gun's recoil!! So many tourist visit my bar every day ,safe and exciting, cool. Let`s have a toast with us!!
This place was upstairs about 400m from our hotel. While only a very small bar it had everything in it that was needed. The main attraction here was the replica airguns that are quite good fun and not bad value. There is lots of choice and my two sons got right into it. One chose a shotgun and the other two of us chose handguns including a desert eagle. You get some training and then a number of different challenges put in front of you. It was over reasonably quickly but still worth the try.You have to pay a modest bar fine to get in here and the drink prices are average. They offer finger food. The bar also has an electronic dart board, which seemed pretty popular the night we visited. This place is central and worth a short visit if you are up for some quick fun.

I'll be able to tell my grandkids that I ate at Beer Komachi before it became a huge enterprise. In January 2019, it will close for two months and when it reopens, it will double in size. I hope it doesn't lose its wonderful cosiness or its inventive ability to use every single spare bit of space. The beers are the best - everything from IPAs to stouts, in a city which sometimes seems as if it awash with Asahi and Sapporo. Because of its tininess, you end up chatting to half the bar, which is quite fun as locals are fantastically generous with suggestions of what to do when in Kyoto for ten days (top tip: return to Komachi). The beer is not the only good aspect here though - the food is simple and delicious and a bargain, including a plate of smoked goodies with fish, eggs, turnip, fish roe. A very happy afternoon in here tasting great local beer and hearty food. The woman who was running the place on the day we went was wearing a Mikkeller shirt. That's the legendary Copenhagen bar and brewery. A great sign.Thank you JennaPrice! We will definitely try to keep same ambience and atmosphere after reopen new Beer Komachi in mid March. We hope to see you again at new Beer Komachi sometime!

Cosy place on Pontocho lane. First time to taste Wagyu. Reasonable prices. GREAT taste. We had the Wagyu sushi which had a bit of drama. The steak was delicious. The broccoli with anchovie gave me some good recipe ideas. The wine was a nice chilean red which went really well with the steak. Highly recommend. You won't get a nicer steak in this price range.
