We booked Sunday lunch for 4 adults and 2 small children for 1 30pm.Arrived on time. Offered drinks and then asked for our orders. After they were taken we were then told they were very busy and the food would be 30 minutes. It arrived at 2 45. Food ok but nothing special. Accoustics are awful. Had one course , paid bill and left at just before 3 30. If they were that busy , why not tell us straight away not wait until we had bought drinks and ordered food. Wait would have been bad enough with just adults let alone hungry children. The staff were clearly over stretched. This appears to be a business in trouble.Good Evening CanaryHucks,Thank you for taking the time to review your visit to the Grove yesterday. I would like to apologise on behalf of the team for you not having an experience that we can be proud of.I am the new GM (as of today) and will be working with the team in the coming weeks to ensure that the service you received yesterday is not repeated. Maybe you could check back with us in the next few months and give us a try again.Best,Kerry

BBQ Restaurant featuring an extensive whisky & craft beer main bar. Adjoined to the restaurant at the back there is also the great addition of a music venue boasting some of London's greatest Blues & Jazz acts as well as one of London's longest running co
No doubt more by luck than judgement, I seem to find myself writing very positive reviews on very good eateries; today's experience was no exception. I went for lunch with my usual 2 friends to "SMOK'D"; this is part of "The Grey Horse". It is situated some 200 metres along the Richmond Road from Kingston-upon-Thames Railway Station. It was a first visit for me; one of my pals had been going to the pub part for some 7 years; he explained to me how radically the place had been extended fairly recently. The front door takes you into the bar area; beyond that is the dining area with enough well-spaced tables to accommodate some 80 people. On the other side of the room is the section where staff barbeque the food. Howver, there was no hint of smoke in the room (so their extractors much be very efficient). Despite it being a Saturday, the place was empty; during our time there, only 4 people arrived. However, this cannot reflect on the quality of food or friendly and efficient service - both of which were extremely good. One friend had Moroccan Chicken which came with sweet potatoes and cost £17. She reported that it was delicious. My other friend had Beef Royale (£15) which he said was excellent. I decided to try something with the weirdest of names - Fat Furious # BOTM (make what you will of that!!). It came resembling an overgrown mushroom but in fact was a magnificent burger with chicken and beef - superbly spiced; It cost £16 and came with a generous quantity of perfectly cooked chips. When my food arrived, I thought that it would not be particularly filling; in the event, I struggled to finish it as it was too tasty to leave any!! One of my friends (he of the Moroccan Chicken) then had a cherry pie (£6); this was not because his main dish was not filling but because he has an insatiable appetite!!Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. There was an insufficient number of customers to enable me to comment on the atmosphere. There are (extremely clean) lavatorial facilities for those mobile and for those less mobile. The only hang-up I have about today's experience is that when the bill came there was a printed (10%) Service Charge at the bottom - before the TOTAL. I had seen no mention of a service charge prior to the bill arriving. In these circumstances, the law says that a customer cannot be compelled to pay such a charge; we nevertheless paid it. The point I make is that this charge should have been made clear on the menu (perhaps it did and I didn't spot it). This apart, I thoroughly recommend this establishment for an unusual (for me, at least) and delicious, reasonably-priced experience.

Upon arrival, we were shown to a table a few feet from the piano player. No thanks. We politely declined the option of having our conversation drowned out for the rest of the evening, and were offered a tiny table at the other end of the pub by the dart board. Not quite what we'd expected, but hey ho.Our food was very good....on the whole. I had an excellent burger, while my partner enjoyed a lovely fish dish. But things were let down a bit by the side vegetables, whose flavour was swamped by the taste of what I'd describe as butterscotch, to the point of being inedible. So we mentioned our dissatisfaction about the veg to the waiter, but his reaction was ".....well, that's the way I like them". So not much joy there then.So pleased you enjoyed your food on the whole. We hope to see you again soon, perhaps next time ring and book a table as we can get very busy especially when the popular piano player is performing.CheersCharlotte and Michael

'The Canbury Arms is a smart community pub with great fresh food, where eaters and drinkers are welcome anytime. We are friendly, independently-owned and individually-styled. Casual enough to be comfortable, smart enough to feel special. We serve deliciou
Having lived in Kingston for the large majority of my life with two massive foodies as parents, weâve always travelled miles for good pub food at gastro pubs. However, about a month ago my mother discovered the Canbury arms. Weâve returned at least four times for dinner since then. Every time weâve been very happy with the food, service and atmosphere. Theyâre dog friendly (outside) which is another bonus. Iâm the only veggie in my family and both meat eating and non meat eating parties have left the pub content and full on each visit.

Hampton Wicks The Foresters, situated on the High Street, brings a splash of Parisian style and Brooklyn charm to the traditional neighbourhood pub-restaurant. The wonderful dcor, incorporating open fires, cosy leather sofas and exposed brick walls m
The past two times Iâve tried to go to the Foresters it was closed for a private function (not announced on website or social media) so I was delighted that it was actually open this time. I used to love the Foresters and ate and drank there regularly. Last night though, there was 5 items missing from the mains menu, the fish was raw in the middle and greasy on the outside, weâd chosen our opinions based on having a cheese board afterwards and then discovered there was no cheese (even thought it was on the menu and black board). Our bill was extortionately expensive for what we ate with no offer of compensation for our inconvenience. All in all, really disappointing. I gave them a second chance and they failed miserably.

I visit regularly, again last Sunday evening for Boaters Jazz. All well, apart from a member of the bar staff whose attitude was really foul. Unsmiling, sulky, charmless, while arguing with colleagues. Really not a good look. It's not what I normally expect at The Boaters, management need to get a grip.Kingstonpaul,Thanks for your feedback on your evening . Iât certainly doesnât sound like the usual characteristics of our team . Iâll be sure to find out what happened Kind Regards Sarah Martin

And lovely staff who were so accommodating with gluten free food. I have coeliac disease and they showed a total understanding that its just a little allergy but very serious. I had the roast chicken and some wonderful gin. My friend had the roast beef. Enormous servings and it was lovely to sit on the sunshine in a lovely garden. Good Afternoon ikjm,Many thanks for your amazing review! We are so glad that you enjoyed your visit, and that you found the food so amazing!
