I was very disappointed and disheartened by this restaurant. It is located in the Dromhall Hotel, next to Randles Hotel, and is owned by the same family. I saw on the web site that "the 4th generation [family members] are still involved and continue the vital link with customers, local suppliers and the wonderful people who work here." Well, not so much. In fact, the experience between here and the Randles is night-and-day. It also is not nearly as nice or as friendly as the Randles, and my experience was very different from the hundreds of glowing reviews on this web site. This restaurant is large and "traditional" but a modern remake; it is not a historic facility. We were told we absolutely needed to book a table in advance, so we did — for a table in an empty restaurant. Two restaurants, really, a pub on the ground floor and a brasserie on the second floor, but same kitchen. The pub was busy, the brasserie was empty. The service was desultory. Food was extremely ordinary, I had their "famous" Irish stew, recommended by our bored server, but it was flavorless and mostly a giant pile of mashed potatoes (see photo). My wife had salad with defrosted shrimp which looked very unappetizing; it was yech, to the taste-buds and to the eyes (the other photo). This hotel and restaurant seems to cater to tour buses, much more than the Randles. Now I know two dinners are not a statistically robust sample, but this was really weak. We were both glad to leave and get back to the lively and enthusiastic staff at the Randles.Dear PilotMike2009,Thank you for your feedback, which we really appreciate you taking the time to post following your recent visit to Kayne's. I must say, I am disappointed read the above and would like to fully investigate. I would appreciate it if you contacted me directly on [email protected] so I can find out a little more about your visit.Kind Regards,Bernadette Randles.

Went here for dinner on the recommendation of the owner at the b&b we were staying at. We received a fast friendly greeting (by the young man from Essex) and quickly shown to a table. Drinks arrived promptly as did our meal. We had the bangers and mash and the salmon both of which were perfect. A great place to visit for dinner.

Beaufort Bar was within walking distance of our house which made it easy for us to go there for dinner several times during our 2 week stay. We were a group of 8, and so it was helpful to call ahead. They were always accommodating. It seems they are usually out of some of the specials, but there are plenty of wonderful things ot choose from and lots of plentiful sides. Limited wine selection, but plenty of beer! Thank you for making our meals so enjoyable! Great to read your party enjoyed their many visits and thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful review it is very much appreciated by all of the team.

We had dinner here before going to the Celtic Steps and enjoyed it so much that we went back the next night to sit at the bar and have dessert. The cheesecake was delicious with a beautiful presentation and was the perfect compliment to our Guinness.
