This is no longer the dark, dingy, smokey place that some reviewers found so unappealing. In early 2015 Hemingwayâs re-opened in a new location in the same shopping center, and now itâs more welcoming by several orders of magnitude. The place is new and clean, the service is friendly, smoking isnât permitted inside, and there is a patio seating option. As in the past, Hemingwayâs is still primarily a neighborhood watering hole with regulars seated at the bar. There are several pool tables as well as the usual batch of flat screens. Drink prices are quite reasonable and happy hour is set at a liberal 4:00-8:00 every day. There are a few craft beers on tap (I liked the Sweet Josie Brown Ale). I havenât tried the food here, but I plan to do that next time.

Suddenly it's 1992.This was one tired puppy of a franchise restaurant. It looked and felt like it hadn't been updated in, at least, 25 years. We happened in on the place driving northbound on the interstate in a...driving...rain. Too bad. Many of the floors were wet: bathroom, hallway, entrance, and kitchen. In fact, the kitchen was pretty disgusting--scraps of food all over the floor, nothing particularly neat or clean, including the personnel. The burger was decent. My wife's chicken salad was okay-not-great.We were happy to just be out of the rain--sort of.Service was slow and semi-competent. Maybe the kitchen staff was tired, or soggy. Who knows? How long does it take to make a burger and a chicken salad? Forty-five minutes? I guess.
The review title is appropriate because the wings are mediocre but the burgers are exceptional. A variety of burger offerings that are all good. Typically not crowded and very reasonably priced. Although set up for a party, it is a relatively quiet restaurant which suits me just fine. Service is not the best. Forgetful servers and occasional messed up food order.

We went to the British Bulldog Pub on the recommendation of our oldest daughter and her boyfriend on a recent visit to Columbia. We went on a busy weekend evening without a reservation. The wait was not overly long. We were eventually seated at a table just a few feet from the two live performers who were singing that evening. It wasn't the best spot to try to have a conversation, but you take what you can get at that hour. The waitress was very professional and personable and was knew the menu well. She was able to assist us in deciding what to have. The food came out in a reasonable time and was cooked to perfection. Overall, it was a nice place. I'm not sure I would have chosen that place/time for a family outing, but it was our first visit to the area and we didn't know what all was around to choose from.

They were moderately busy on a Sunday afternoon about 2:30 PM. Part of our group arrived earlier than the two of us and were enjoying appetizers. About 15 minutes after we were seated with our group our drink orders were taken. Then the entree orders. The fish & chips I had were just moderately warm, not fresh and hot from the fryer. I would imagine that the orders, some had specialty hamburgers and others sandwiches, were all held in the kitchen as a group to "all come out at the same time" to allow my dinner to cool off so much. The meals were delivered by other waiters & waitresses than ours. What I was disappointed with is we never saw our waiter again, for refills of our drinks or the "table touch" went the server comes and asks if you meal was as expected. The next time we saw him was with his iPad waiting for the bill to be paid.We won't be back.

We went here with friends. We got to try their new vegan burger. It was excellent. It left me questioning is this really vegan. It was that good. The service was very good and the atmosphere was nice. Everything was very nice.

Funky little bar, but the three of us visiting felt right at home. Many customers seemed to know one another and the staff - kind of a "where everybody knows your name" type place. We split some apps -- fried mushrooms and chicken egg rolls were tasty, But the chili cheese tots made my heart sing. A body just needs some junk food occasionally. I wish we had a little neighborhood joint like this where I live.
