Below average food. Limited menu. Service was excellent or terrible. Depending on day and server. I was here 6 days. Crowd was loud and noisy as you would expect from a convention type hotel. We are sorry to hear about the service inconsistencies and your subpar impression of the food. We will let the management know that there is more work to bring our offerings up to the standard, and that the servers need some more direct guidance. We appreciate you letting us know how your experience with us has been, the feedback will turn into positive change! -PB

We had heard about the Barrel House Kitchen & Tap's recent opening, so, we decided to try it for dinner. The Barrel House Kitchen & Tap is located on the northwest corner of Harlem Ave. & Carmen Ave. There is parking on Carmen Ave. on both sides, as well as a parking lot behind the restaurant. Just remember, you have to drive around the block, as Carmen Ave. is an eastbound one-way street. When we entered, we found a hostess at her desk, who was very friendly and let us pick our table. There is a combination of high tables, bar stools, and regular height tables and booths. The bar is large and takes up the center, with a large number of TVs above it. We found the TVs all tuned to a variety of sports channels. The music that was playing was - all country. Our server, Olivia S., was there immediately with our menus and for drinks. After looking at the menus, we chose the artichoke dip as a happy hour appetizers. We each then chose the double barrel burger which is their Monday special at half price. We ordered our burgers - medium rare, and they were done that way and were hot and juicy. We got one burger with no bun and the other with a bun. We opted for no sides, since we had no dip and the burgers came with cole slaw. Our server, Olivia S., was very attentive, informative about the menu and personable. The price was quite reasonable. The Barrel House does advertise a First Responder & Military discount with I.D.'s, that is very nice of them - thanks! We will definitely be back here.

Ok so I went once with my boyfriend because I live three blocks away. It was kind of early so maybe it gets better later. There were six drunks there and the bartender. All of them clearly knew each other.

Are here while on a business trip with coworkers. Overall the restaurant is your typical sports bar and restaurant, it was hard to hear and have a conversation over the multiple TVs playing multiple NBA and baseball games- I would definitely recommend stopping here to watch games... to have a conversation with people, not so much! The food was typical of bar food, with the addition of a couple steak options. This restaurant has a pretty solid craft beer line up if you are interested in the Chicago craft beer scene. The only downside to this restaurant was the service- our waitress was slow to take our orders and we had to flag her down to get a refill- this in spite of the area we were sitting in being slow that evening. All in all- this was an ok experience that would have been better suited for catching a game with a small group of people, rather than a larger group, but the service definitely needs to improve.
