Stayed overnight but ate in 1st floor Indian restaurant. I had a pleasant stay though and breakfast the next morning was fine. Very friendly place, just as well as the weather outside was very wet and not encouraging of a venture out.

Sunday afternoon food, the pub wasn't too busy as we timed it between lunch and diner. The staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered 4 main meals, they arrived in fairly quick time. You could modify the order to have a salad instead of veg. The food was hot and tasty, I particularly enjoyed the Wexford chicken. The price was reasonable for the quality of food and some drinks.

My wife and I had a very early dinner here last night, it was just after six pm , raining and on a Monday, so the pub was very quiet. There was a 50% offer on main meals before 9pm so we took advantage of this, and our bill was less than £15.00 which even Wetherspoons' couldn't match. My wife had cheese and onion pie, chips and beetroot, whilst I had home made beef lasagne with salad and chips, ALL very good. She had a soda water & lime and I had a pint of their excellent local Howard Town's Wren's Nest. The service was first class too with both the waitress and the manager checking with us that everything was OK.When I paid our bill I was almost embarrassed that it was only £14.85 particularly as the quality of the home made food was good and the quantity of our meals generous.Very happy to provide an excellent rating.Hi Jeff W Thank you so much for your five star review we are glad you decided to take us up on our fabulous 50% offer on main meals. As an independent we cant compete with the big boys in and around Glossop but we try to offer value for money on both our food and drink.I will pass your comments on to the team about the excellent service you received and hope to welcome you back again soon

Visited this pub with a group from The Old House Art course for an evening meal. The booking was made in advance and our table was ready for us when we arrived. All staff were polite, cheerful and professional. Our waitress was so helpful and couldnât do enough for us. The menu was varied and suited all dietary needs. The food was served piping hot and tasted delicious.Would certainly recommend. A very enjoyable evening.

Sunday lunch with friends. Roast beef cut in proper slices, not wafer thin like some places. Yorkshire pudding, roasties, mash, green beans, carrots, cauliflower cheese and enough gravy to bathe in. Fabulous!! and don't even get me started on the deserts. Lemon pudding, chocolate brownie and a sticky toffee pudding all served with ice cream. lets have all 3 and share, great idea. Great service with friendly staff. Would we go back?, hell yes. Will we recommend? definitely.

We was searching for somewhere in the middle of Sheffield and Warrington and stumbled upon this little gem of a pub, after reading the reviews we was egar to give it a try, we phoned to reserve our table and spoke to a lovely helpful lady on the phone who made booking and reserving a table with ease giving us some helpful directions too. On entering the pub it was a lovley very busy but not overcrowded and sat down. the bar and waiting on staff was execlent extremely friendly and accommodating for the older family members who have dementia. The starters came out and they was fantastic very large all freshly cooked the pate was lovely the soup of the day that was tomato and Basil and what can i say it was so lovely. We had a little wait for our main but it wasn't anything too long with the pub being busy we fully understand and if you want good quality food you must wait a little, however the bar staff came over and offered us all complimentry drinks because of the wait, superb service the food was delightful the atmosphere was lovely will definatly recomend this pub and will be returning! Thankyou for such a lovely visit

Traditional 16 Century English Pub serving local ales, hot drinks and home cooked fresh pub food. Warm friendly welcome and atmosphere, families, groups and dogs welcome. Food Times Wed & Thur 5 - 8.45 Fri & Sat 12 noon - 8.45. Sun & Bank Holidays 12 - 4.
Had a lovely holiday in Glossop and decided to pop in here for our Sunday lunch. Was the best grub we had the whole holiday, tomato soup for starters was very hearty with crusty warm bread. For main we had roast beef and Yorkshire puddings with all the trimmings. There was 4 roasties each made just like my mum would make them, and such a welcoming relaxed atmosphere. While the pub is a bit out of the way well worth the visit.
