A friend suggested that we stop here when on a motorcycle ride to have a burger so we took the suggestion and did not regret it one bit.Service was a bit slow but we were not in a hurry so no biggie. Did not drink because we were on a motorcycle but will be back to check out some of the fun drinks they offer outside of beer. Hubby had a whiskey burger and I had the Roger that flatbread. Both were very good and the homemade chips were really, really good. I liked the menu variety so that keeps me interested in coming back. The place was clean an had a fun vibe with cute decorations. There was outside eating but it was small and facing the parking lot so not sure if I would do that. What a great addition for the small town of Ellsworth!Thank you Beth for your review! We are glad you stopped in. As for the outside seating you mentioned, that was only temporary. We are in the process of a major patio renovation that should be completed soon. Make sure you check it out when you stop back to try those drinks! See you soon.
This was one of many stops my husband and I made with another couple while spending a day traveling, eating, and drinking in the Ellsworth area. This is not a fancy place, which was perfect for us! We had great service, burgers, and deep fried curds. We would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great stop that wonât break the bank.
The Gas Lite Tavern sits among the rolling, winding roads of east central Wisconsin that are loved by bikers from the Twin Cities. The place is decidedly low brow. During warm days, the place is quiet but for the roar of loud motorcycles riding by. Lots of bikers stop in for a cold one or a quick snack. The place is old and it has seen better days. The wood paneling dates from the 70s and there are lots of posters for bike rides and charity events. A few locals sit around the bar and talk with the bartender who knows everyone. The Tequila selection consisted of Patron and garbage. The beer selection is mostly large national brands. The food selection is mostly frozen finger foods dropped in a deep fryer and frozen pizza.I went there with some friends while enjoying a sunny Friday afternoon on our motorcycles. It was time to wet our whistles and I needed some food. I ordered the chicken wings. They are small and heavily breaded. They come without any sauce on them. The bartender doubles as the cook when things are slow and she did a good job with them. They were bland and a bit greasy but that is to be expected from frozen wings. They were what I needed to slow the alcohol intake while riding. If you're not a local, this place is not a destination but it's a good place to stop, rest, rehydrate and grab a bite while you're out riding the twisty roads. It seems like it's out in the middle of nowhere, but it's close enough to the cites and worth the ride.
