Reviews on Pub food in Dungarvan, Province of Munster, Ireland. Dungarvan (Irish: Dún Garbhán, meaning "Garbhann's Fort") is a coastal town and harbour in County Waterford, on the south coast of Ireland. Prior to the merger of Waterford County Council with Waterford City Council in 2014, Dungarvan was the county town and administrative centre of County Waterford. Waterford City and County Council retains administrative offices in the town. The town's Irish name means "Garbhann's fort", referring to Saint Garbhann who founded a church there in the seventh century. The town lies on the N25 road (European route E30), which connects Cork, Waterford and Rosslare Europort.

The Lady Belle

On Christmas Eve in Ireland most everyone adult goes out. Why? No alcohol sales on Christmas. Dunvargan is small (about 30 minutes from Waterford) and The Lady Belle is close to the quaint harbour. Our thirsty family wandered in looking for a pint. The main floor was packed. Upstairs we went. Less crowded (though it was early). Had a round of Guinnesses, great service. The pub is clean & well maintained w/ a nice vibe.

Lovely little pub with very good, nourishing food. We selected from the specials, and were pleased with the fare. The desert was a little light for my fancy - I had the meringue. Nice coffees though. Very pleasant to sit beside the fire as the night drew in. Very cosy, lovely staff (who were very busy indeed), nice lay-out. I would definitely recommend it for some grub.

Marine Bar

Traditional family run Irish Pub - renowned far and wide for the best of Irish Music sessions all year round, lead by owner and musician Christy O'Neill and his wife Helen. Music every Saturday and Monday nights and Sundays on a bank holiday.

The Marine bar stands as it stood in the late 1700's. On F,S,S and M, there is traditional music played by the owner, Christy, along with Caroline the Fabulous Accordion Player (and pipe and guitar), and a fabulous Bodrhan player to whom I apologize for not remembering his name. He plays bones as well, and famously. We ran into Christy and Caroline playing at another pub a few days after we first met them and they went out of their way to come over and chat with us. Great craiq. We were in Ireland to celebrate my wife's birthday, and on our last night, Caroline (who remembered why we were there) said she would play a special song for us. We sat there a bit wet-eyed at their top notch rendition of "When You were Sweet Sixteen." A great pint, great people, and lasting memories

Was here today with my family. Lovely friendly staff. Food was amazing. I had seafood pasta. Delicious and was full of pawns and salmon. My partner got fish and chips and that looked amazing. Dad got caesar salad and mam got a panini. Everyone left full and happy. Lovely ambience and nice and clean. Will be back

The Local

The husband and I were in Dungarvan almost as a last minute trip. We weren't too hungry. I fancied something light. We browsed a few places in The Square but it was the chowder listing on the menu board outside The Local that drew us in. And that's what we ordered. It didn't appear very quickly (not a problem) and the bowls were a little smaller than I'd expected. Proper chowder is thickened with potato and should contain some diced vegetables, but I won't refuse a creamy veg-free chowder like the one we were served. It was very tasty. We enjoyed all the old-fashioned signs on the walls. The staff were cheerful and friendly.

Am now a regular visitor to this establishment. Staff are friendly, efficient and pleasant to deal with. Food is always very good. Especially love the lemon sole. Children’s portions are very good. Seafood chowder was delicious as were the prawns. Good wine list though a tad expensive for organic wines but of a good quality. Highly recommend to one and all but do remember to book in high season and at weekends as it’s a very popular pub and restaurant.
