On the 4th of July we ended up at Wings Etc by default. Most places not open in town.It was wing night....$.59 wings. We ordered 10 hot asian and 10 buffalo well done. They came out hot and spicy but done as requested well.I expected little tiny wings fue to the price. They were normal size wings and mostly the meater part of the wing. We both could only eat 6 wings so that left 4 for lunch. They were even better the next day!!Our bartender, Alexis, was wonderful. She was very attentive and talkative but never left her customers wait.We returned on Wednesday the next night. I had a 1/2 order of nachos (1/2 not on menu I asked if I could order 1/2). It lookes like a normal portion. Lots of cheese, chili, olives and jalapenos. The sauces were on the side. Very filling. My husband had the buffalo chicken sandwich with curly fries. He said his sandwich was spicy with a good taste. Again filling.Alexis was wonderful again!!

The seven of us have been to Small Town a number of times. We like their location, their laid back, simple atmosphere, great service, good food, good beverages and fair prices. Small Town has an extensive selection of craft brews, but these are supplemented with domestic beers if you want the known. They have their three way liquor license so mixed drinks and wines are also available. They have a quite nice menu selection - appetizers, salads, soups, grinders, burgers, hotdogs, wraps, pizzas and more. They too have a soup, salad and pizza buffet table. This Friday we stopped in for some cool beverages and food. Our group had a selection of their wraps, pizza and grinders. All were well satisfied. Confess that I am usually their Chili Cheese Dog fan. I broke out of my mold and tried their Breakfast Pizza (sausage, ham, bacon, egg, sausage gravy, topped with cheese on a pizza crust) this time. I liked the fresh crust and copious toppings - quite flavorful. Although I am still a hotdog guy, I would have no hesitation to again try this or another of their pizzas. Another good visit to Small Town (Joaquin is always a tremendous server). We look forward to our next visit.

River View Tavern is a smoker friendly, low key bar restaurant along the St. Mary's River. They have an unpaved parking lot for patrons. In addition to being a full bar, they have appetizers, Loaded Baked Potatoes, Salads, Sandwiches, Subs, Burgers, Wings, Pizza and Entrees (chopped steak, pulled pork, smothered chicken, fried shrimp. fried fish and fried gizzards). They offer daily specials. The Friday evening the we were present, they were quite busy with one waitress. She was doing a great job, but she was just one person so service was slow. We had a couple beverages, their Riverview Sub, Wings, Mozzarella Sticks and Fried Bologna sandwich. I had the latter but would swear it was not the 8 oz (1/2 pound) version from the menu? The sandwich was ok, but I would go a different direction on my next visit.

D.E. remains one of my favorite places to go based upon great service, friendly people, relaxed atmosphere and plenty of sports tuned TVs. With Autumn pending football season is back in swing. With their many televisions tuned to various games and TVs spread throughout, no problem catching a game while you enjoy some food and beverages. Stopping in on a Friday evening, they were quite busy. Regardless, service was nice. Also, can be fun with lots of people and activity going on around you. We ordered a meatless "Philly" wrap, cheese burger (rare of course) and a new D.E. offering "fried gizzards." The wrap was good as always, The burger juicy and rare, as I love it. I also tried the gizzards, which were excellent - very tender and moist. I like them. As normal, we had a great time and will definitely return.

Chicotes is a popular Mexican venue. They have a large, diverse menu, including most Mexican dishes that you can envision, as well as a few "Gringo" specials (i.e. salads, steaks, burgers). They have a full bar with soft drinks, beer, wine and mixed drinks. They have a relaxed friendly atmosphere with seating in a family room (children welcome) or their bar area (bar seating or high tops). The service has always been excellent when we visit. Juan and his staff have their customers' interests at heart. Almost simultaneous with your sitting down, chips (frequently warm) and salsa are on the table with you. Drink orders are taken quickly as well. Depending on your urgency to eat (or not) menus are provided and food orders likewise taken. Just let your wait staff know your plans / needs and they will adjust. I personally like their seafood options, recently I have leaned toward their Sophia's Burrito, Rebecca's Enchiladas, Shrimp Enchiladas and Seafood Enchiladas. I also like their Queso blanco. I could have it on everything. This recent weekend was Cinco de Mayo. Juan did this up right, setting up a large tent in the parking lot and having a live band from 2 to 11 PM. This was a great party with a huge crowd. So much fun was had that many asked Juan to do this more than once a year. Will he? Questionable, he shared that this was a huge amount of extra work. Time will tell. The local group with whom I tend to go out loves this place as much or more than do I. I know that we will be back many times over the coming months.

Two Bros has been reborn with their recent remodeling inside and outside. The most recent is removal of the outside paneling to expose the original brick. For me this is a great improvement. The change helps tie together the outside and inside exposed brick motif. Four of us stopped in on a Friday for a beverage and food. They were not terribly busy. We grabbed a booth on the bar side. We enjoy the relaxed, old style atmosphere of this part of the business. Our waitress was fast and efficient. She took and quickly returned with our beverages. Next she took our food orders. Shortly later we had them. Our food choices were their Chef Salad (large & fresh), grilled tenderloin sandwiches and chili. I had a grilled tenderloin with a bowl of chili on the side. I have been going to Two Brothers for more years that I like to remember, However, this sandwich and soup combo is one of my go to favorites. Whenever, I have them, I flash back to decades ago when i first tried them. The original flavors, especially for the chili, are still there. We had a great time talking, eating and drinking. We will definitely return.

Soul Pig is a tasty BBQ restaurant in downtown Decatur. Curb side parking is available out front. The business is situated in a remodeled old building, retaining aspects of its origin (e.g. brick walls, dark wood work, old bar) with additions to provide a Southern BBQ vibe (picnic tables, signage)/ Arriving on a Saturday evening, we were lucky to gain quick seating at a booth on the bar side. The bar side (no kids) has seating at the bar or in booths. The alternative is to be in the family room with seating mainly at picnic tables. Our waitress was quick, friendly and efficient. She took and provided our beverage orders. She then explained their three specials and gave us time to consider. A couple in our group went for their BBQ chicken wings, which were enjoyed. Three of us opted for one of their specials. The specials included Brisket and Black Bean chili loaded, which was described as tasty. A second was grilled lamb gyro with goat cheese and more, which was also enjoyed. The third, which I picked, was BBQ Pork Cheek on Cheesy Bacon Grits with Grilled Onions. I found this very good and quite spicy, which I too liked. I would definitely try the BBQ Pork Cheek again, In fact, all of us thought the specials and regular menu fare were excellent. Diners will find that the cocktail pricing is quite high at Soul Pig, probably the highest in town. However, nothing states that one must consume alcoholic beverages with their BBQ. The food is definitely worth the visit. We will certainly be back.
