Got there at 1.50, ordered food at 2.05, at 3.17 we were still waiting so we asked what was taking so long, the young girl said we were 3rd in the que and our order hadn't yet been started, the place was empty when we ordered food .We got a refund and leftDear Sir, Thank you for you review.I'm sorry for the bad experience you had in our place.Unfortunately you came on the busiest day of the year due to the event "Castle Rock" at The Castle.I perfectly remember you (with your wife and 2 kids) ordering your meal. You were told by the bartender that you will have to wait at least 45-60 minutes before being served. Unfortunately you were not the 3rd but the 10th on the queue. As the garden was fully packed so you chose a quieter part of the Pub, the room near the fire place. You agreed to wait and then paid for your meal and drinks. With the knowledge of the situation, i don't really understand your complain. You perfectly knew about the delay and effectively you got a refund.I wish you a lovely day.Regards

Although this review is entitled âHandy for the racesâ, we didnât come here during an event at the nearby Chepstow Racecourse. Itâs very close and probably gets very busy. We were staying nearby and came here for dinner one evening. Lovely, efficient staff and lovely food in nice surroundings...what more would one need? Recommended.Thank you so much for the amazing review, we are so glad you enjoyed your evening with us we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Family run community pub / eatery fresh food Tuesday to Sunday lunch, ample parking. We are not chasing food accolades, just home cooked fresh food. Log fire day and night, weekly live music and entertainment.
Not only did we have to wait nearly an hour for the food, but when it arrived it was inedible. The jacket potato was burnt, the fish so over cooked that the batter couldnât be eaten and the inside was dry and tasteless, and the peas were stone cold. Really disappointed that they would even think it was acceptable to serve food in that state! Again I'm very sorry you had a bad experience especially as we are so new to finding our feet and there were so many happy customers yet you had such a poor time :-( i can not apologise enough. You were not charged for any food and hope you will come back and try again at a later date

Went to the Inn on a recommendation from where we were staying in Tintern. We were not disappointed!! The barmaid was extremely welcoming and obviously could tell we were not locals. The drinks and food were all well priced. The food was amazing!!Although the Inn quickly filled with locals we were not made to feel unwelcome or unwanted. A definite place to go to if staying or visiting Tintern.

What a fabulous pub. Excellent choice of drinks, fantastic traditional pub food cooked by a chef to a very high standard a function room and guest rooms car parking and beer garden. Near on perfect establishment and very well run by friendly professional staff. Big choice of food including great fish and meat dishes ( best ribs in Wales!!) The portions are huge One of the best pub restaurants in the area and very hard to beat. Excellent

A couple of weeks ago we made a last minute decision to have lunch as two retired couples at The Woodlands Tavern . From the spotless Tavern itself to the warm and friendly welcome from the staff and the lady owner we had a very enjoyable lunch time . A good choice of beers some local and a very good value lunchtime meal , I think around 13 pounds for 2 courses and 16 for 3 it was a varied choice and was served hot and good quality . Even the fellow guests who were regular visitors were entertaining . The whole experience was highly professional from the Taverns part, as someone who was in the restaurant business I was very impressed with the whole time we spent there . Just to mention the toilets , this is in most cases a reflection of any catering establishment , these are spotless , smell less like going to our own home . Well done all of you , we will God willing look forward to our return visit . Excellent thank you all of you .

Went in for a couple of drinks on a Saturday evening , fairly early on. Entry from main street straight into large, bare floor boarded bar with the serving area slightly to your left front. Away at the other end a fireplace with a wood burning stove, a few tables & chairs & a sofa or two. There are a couple of tables by the window in the serving end & some bar stools. We sat on these as all the other seating was occupied. There is quite a lot of standing space around the middle area of the bar. A band was setting up at the fireplace end which reduced the seating availability a bit.It seems music is on Saturday, Sunday & Monday. Reasonable choice of ales & some quirkily named ciders. Friendly enough staff & suprisingly cheap drinks- for us at least, being used to Home Counties prices. Pub became more busy as 9 pm approached- start of music. The front door remained open all the time, a practise of which I am not fond , especially on fresh Spring evenings. I would be wary of turning up too late here if you don't like standing whilst drinkiing. The pub is right by Chepstow Castle & next to a large car park. Did'nt eat or stay here so cannot comment on those facilities.Believe there is a garden out the back. Also dog friendly inside, which is a bonus.

I arrived at the two rivers pub due to a recommendation. And Iâm saying now I will not be returning, they ran out of Pepsi and the bottle as-well as the lemonade! There was no table service ordering food which was no bother. The staff looked miserable an stressed due to lacking of staff (as one member of staff said) The problem was waiting nearly an hour for food and it serving literally just above cold! The people I went with finished their food before mine was even served even though it was on the same table just paid separately. Itâs quite difficult with an autistic child to waiting for that long period of times So disappointing! So very disappointing indeed and we are very sorry to have let you down during your visit! Unfortunately we were short staffed due to sickness and that will always be tricky on a busy Sunday lunch for us. In regards to pepsi max and lemonade we had plenty of both but due to a part breaking off from our gas cylinders it had left us with a leak and therefore ran out but a lovely local business delivered gas to us and we were fixed within the hour! Iâm sure these shortfalls were a one off and Iâm positive we can restore your faith. Many thanks General Manager

The Coach & Horses is a former coaching inn which has been recently refurbished to a high standard whilst retaining the character and charm of this historic building. We are situated near the historic Town Arch and Chepstow Castle. Convenient for explorin
Staying here for one night whilst on me holidays. Nice welcome with some banter. Room was fine shared bathroom clean. Great location, car park 200yds away and Main Street accessible from that car park. Nice shopping and lovely pubs. Chepstow is nice
Classic pub grub meals at a value to suit all with a large front patio area off the main bar with a large function room that can cater for 200 people
Recently attended a family wake here's organised but my wife.Rob could not have been more understanding and friendly throughout the process which was much appreciated. The spread was more than adequate, had an extensive range of buffet snacks and represented good value for money as do the bar prices in general. There is a large function room and back lounge with bar as well as the main bar / pool table area along with a front, paved beer garden (rear one still needs some work).Obviously the team there are working hard to drive the pub forwards, having taken over the running last year.Would recommend.Thank you for your kind words
