Reviews on Pub food in Bowness-on-Windermere, England, United Kingdom. Bowness-on-Windermere is a town in South Lakeland, Cumbria, England. Due to its position on the banks of Windermere, the town has become a tourist honeypot. Although their mutual growth has caused them to become one large settlement, the town is distinct from the town of Windermere as the two still have distinguishable town centres. Historically part of Westmorland, in 2012, Bowness was one of the official stop off points for the Olympic torch before it made its way to the Olympic Games opening ceremony.

This is a pub in the lake district
We had a great meal here! The food was good value, nicely presented and service swift! We had intended to go to the Masons Arms however it was busy and seemed quite claustrophobic! Although we were passing here and popped in, we were really glad we found it! Thank you for your review, we are so glad you decided to stop off with us for a meal and glad you enjoyed! We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Average place for the area, but not a negative, itâs just like most. Little grittier pretty basic. Cask ale, nice enough people working there. Feels a little sleepier than most, but I was there in an odd time. Clean, decent prices and not much more that stood out.

Popped in this evening and it will definitely be a one off visit.Pretty rude waitress service, slow, and not at all interested in us. The bitter was served from the end of the barrel and tasted of vinegar and wouldnât clear. It was however exchanged by one of the disinterested waitresses for a slightly better pint. After a bit of a wait the fish and chips arrived. Pretty greasy and the mushy peas were as dry as anything and there was only half a bowl of tartare sauce served on the plate. When we got the bill I asked if the peas had been microwaved, the disinterested waitress said no but they had been over cooked and left sitting. Was tempted not to pay but did and left no tip. The waitress said she would do a discount for us (we didnât ask) but said there was no manager on site to allow this. Wish they well for the future but come on, have engaged and enthusiastic staff.

The Arts Bar is a celebration of great food & perfectly crafted drinks in a building famed for creativity
Sat with a glass of bubbles and some light starters mid afternoon - watching the world from a distance ... delightful ! Bit away from the crowds but not so far as you feel detached from the atmosphere: if you are passing give it a tryItâs great to hear you enjoyed some fizz and a few nibbles, we hope to see you again soon.

Just had a couple of nights here and what a great find. Perfect location in the middle of Windermere with off street parking. Lovely large room, big enough for a table and chairs in the window which we had our breakfast at. Staff lovely and friendly and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Had a meal here which was very nice. Would definitely stay here again.

After a lunchtime visit we tried to book an evening meal. It came as no surprise to find the place was fully booked right from outset since the reason we tried to book was simply the ambience and the feeling that weâd discovered a gem. Our lunch was just soup and sandwiches but there was enough evidence to convince us that a more formal meal would not disappoint. Sitting outside in the sun with lovely Lakeland views influenced our impressionof course, but the overall impact was of a real pub which had made the difficult move to become a good eating place. Service was friendly and excellent, the beer was local and first rate and the food was freshly made and not the standard pub fare. And the prices were not high. The repeat lunch the next day confirmed the first impression.

Family owned and run Hotel, bar and restaurant in the Centre of Bowness on Windermere, the perfect place to stay for your Lake District break, within close walking distance of Lake Windermere and everything the area has to offer.
We went for dinner on a Saturday evening, having booked a table earlier in the day.The restaurant was very busy with families and couples dining. The service was good however the staff were rushed off their feet and looked to me as though they was not enough staff to cover the bar or the restaurant. The menu was varied and reasonable priced all the food was cooked to order and plentiful and delicious. We would definitely go back again however may try lunch instead of dinner on a Saturday night.Dear Reviewer, please be aware that we no longer respond to your reviews on an individual basis.
