After waiting nearly a month for it to re-open, I was hugely dissapopinted at the revamp this outlet has under gone.It was widely used throughout the week when the previous owners had the establishment, and we visited on numerous occasions as the visit was so worthwhile, for example saturday nights, two 8 ounce steaks with all the trimmings and a bottle of wine all for £22.00, unbeatable value.Last saturday evening my wife tried for the first time to see what it was like.A), on the menu, no sign of any offers except a lunchtime burger for £12.00.so we plumpt for bacon chops for me and a chichen breast for my wife, accompanied by a glass of water for her and a small coke for me, total cost £22.70.The two meals were priced at £8.95 each, so to my horror, the half glass of coke was £4.70.I questioned this with the so called partner, who came back and informed me that it was an error on the till, making out it was the glass of wine price incorrectly keyed in, it should of been £1.80, so £3.00 in coins was refunded. When the glass of water arrived, the glass was filthy and had to be replaced. When the meal arrived, well, my bacon chops were ok, but my wifes chicken breast was awful. The veg that came with it, had been spooned out on the plate, needless to say, it was swimming in water, and the chicken breast looked like a piece of "tripe" and tasted awful as well. We complained again, but to no avail was the chicken replaced. At that moment what appeared to be the cook/chef walked by, no apron, no hat, and was dressed if he had been cleaning out the drains.I spoke to what was the other partner there behind the bar, he said he was sorry, and hoped he would see us again.I am afraid, we will give this place a wide berth until I see more favourable reports about it being published.Incidentally, on saturday night, there were only two other couples eating in there. So come on Town House, get your act together before Punch Taverns close you down for good.

Never been to this pub before and it's safe to say I shall not be going back, the staff are friendly but that is all I have to say that is good. The food that was served was shockingly poor, the bread was dry with mediocre fillings and not of a good quality, the few crisps were clearly a supermarkets own value brand and the sausages rolls were very greasy. If I served food of that poor quality I would rapidly go out of business, they really don't care about customer satisfaction.

Welcome to the Wheatsheaf Inn where we hope to give everyone a warm welcome. We are a local family friendly pub with hot & cold food served Monday - Sunday, live entertainment and a fantastic range of real ales, lagers, wine & spirits.
We chose the Wheatsheaf for my dadâs Wake after the funeral. If Iâm honest, I chose it for parking and location. However, from beginning to end, Laura and the rest of the team were patient, understanding, sensitive and very kind. Laura in particular was amazing, I think I wouldâve had a meltdown without her.The food was ample and exceptional quality, plus we had two vegans, vegetarians and I am anaphylactic, not an easy bunch. We were all catered for, plus all felt safe in our food choices. What I really loved was that Laura said what she did as standard, but I could swap things and chose my own preferences. It was brilliant food, displayed well and tasty. Plus lots of tea and coffee.Thank you all so much

I will pass on your comments about the greeting and service you received, to our staff, as its always nice for them to hear when their efforts are recognised. We hope that you are able to visit us again, soon. Kind regards,Peter & Pauline

Called in yesterday with my husband. Didnât want a big meal so we ordered the mixed Ploughmanâs and a Pork, stuffing and apple sandwich on a baguette.. Food arrived after waiting longer than expected for the very simple food ordered, plus it wasnât busy. Ploughmanâs looked lovely. The smell of mine wasnât very nice. I open my sandwich to find what I can only call disgusting . The meat looked like supermarket pre packed pork wafer thin slices that had clearly been microwaved! It was dark, shrivelled and full of fat. It really was disgusting. I called the owner over( tall very slim lady) and showed her. She looked in astonishment and apologised stating she would re new it. I requested I didnât want the same and I would have the same mixed ploughmanâs as my husband., and pay the difference. She said she wouldnât charge me anymore. I waited once again a while longer. When the food arrived, there was a tiny piece of cheese and no coleslaw. The pickled onions were dark brown and slimy. I ate what I could and left the rest. The lady came over once I had finished and asked if everything was ok with the replacement. I told her about items missing so she said she would discount our bill too. When we paid the bill, as well as only charging for a pork sandwich instead of a ploughmanâs, and then giving a 30% discount, this makes me wonder how they survive. Yes, financially it was to our advantage( although our lunchtime treat was a disadvantage with the disappointment of the quality of food served) This pub looks great from the outside, very â with it â and welcoming. Inside is old, the toilets were dirty and had a musty smell, tables were wiped down with a dry cloth and spray bottle. Not your good old fashioned clean soapy water, hence why the table mats stuck to the sticky dirty tables. This pub could be so much more with dedicated owners and staff with a passion to serve good quality food and cleanliness. Unfortunately, I wonât be going again
