We were in Belize City on December 1, 2014 as one of the ports on our cruise on Oceania Regatta. We had to anchor and tender in from the ship due to the reef. Local tenders were used (150 passenger). It was just under 15 minutes to tender in from the ship. The tenders docked in the port area which has a number of shops including 3 Diamond International stores. A number of shops were closed. According to some locals, Regatta is a small ship (684) so some people did not bother to open. On our way out of the port area we seen a sign at The Thirsty Pirate that indicated they had 2 beers for $5.00. The Thirsty Pirate is built out over the water. We wandered around the city for a few hours and made our way back to The Thirsty Pirate. We were able to get a table right at the water's edge. It was a great view. The bartender informed us of the three local beers they carried, Belikin Regular, Belikin Stout and Lighthouse Lager. All the beers were sampled and found to be very good. The beer was served ice cold. The bartender was friendly and offered to take photos for us.There was some great photo opportunities while we sat there. The bar was not very busy which made it easy to talk.We spent a few hours relaxing and enjoying the warm weather and cold beer. There are washrooms directly across from The Thirsty Pirate, between the Chocolate Shop and one of the Diamond International Jewelry stores. There are also washrooms in the little mall through the glass doors to the left of Diamond International. They are located on the right about halfway down. There are a number of tour operators in the mall trying to sell their tours. If you walk straight past the tour operators through the glass doors leading to the parking lot, you will see a yellowish colored building with an EXIT sign on it. Go through the door and there is a security office. Walk out the other door and you are able to explore Belize City. On the way back you have to enter the security building and produce your room card.We were very happy with The Thirsty Pirate and will go back if we are in Belize City again.

This restaurant is just up the stairs from ticketing and makes some pretty tasty pre-departure food in an air conditioned setting. The staff are a little cranky, but cut them a break and show them some appreciation. They do good work and need some support. We will visits there again when we return!

We were here for Pizza in the evening. Since the waitress didn't even know how large the Pizzas were we presumed she was brand new. That was more evident with every interaction. Still she was nice and tried to be helpful. The Pizza is very good and we are pizza connoisseurs. The price was one average for the typical Belize prices. Higher than we'd pay in the states, but normal for there.

Sip an exotic island beverage on the veranda as you look over the garden area, the pool deck or the majestic Caribbean Sea at this family-friendly tavern. If you arenât thirsty, enjoy live music and a meal in the air-conditioned section. A kidsâ menu is a
We came here for dinner and had chicken tacos and a chicken panini. Both were pretty good but cold and mojitos were excellent. We chose this place because it was close to our hotel. The service was slow because theyâre grossly under staffed. An extra person would made a huge difference.Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I'm sorry to hear that you meal was cold and service was slow. The team works hard to provide customer satisfaction and we'll continue to work on areas of improvement. Thank you for your feedback, it will help us to continue growing. Have a nice day!

It was in a good location, it wasn't busy. We booked for 20 of us 2 days in advance. When we comes in they send us to a room upstairs. we all order our starters and mains together. I orderâ Fulfil and fish. Some of us waited more than 2 and half hours for our starters to come in and some were already finished with there main by then. I decided to skip starters and go to main to save time. Even after 3 and half hour my main never came in everyone one finished there main and they were waiting for me I was waiting for my fish. Finally I decided to cancel the order because I don't wanted to hold everyone until I finish my main and god knows how long this going to take. I had to go back hungry. This place have the worst customer service all this time not a single person came upstairs to see how doing or no one bother to apologise. This is far the worst restaurant experience I ever had.Thank you for your response and feed back .. sorry Iâve just come around to address this issue. Caribbean Shrimp Farm is a small sustainably minded shrimp farm located in the heart of beautiful Belize. Surrounded by a privately protected wetland habitat, the farm is the home of the new âCaptain Hookâs Shrimp Restaurant & Croc Barâ and ACES Education
We were directed to Captain Hook's by our resort host from 40 miles away as a great place to have lunch before our return flight. This place has friendly staff and nice atmosphere. We had the coconut shrimp and the garlic butter shrimp meals. Both were nicely executed, quickly served, and delicious! Being up high with a nice breeze, we had no problem with flying critters. It's very close to the airport, although down off the beaten path, which was convenient for us.

We stayed at Leaning Palm Resort for 5 days and from our arrival to our departure, every meal was beautifully presented, fresh, unique, regional and beyond our expectations. If you are not staying at the resort, we highly recommend stopping for lunch. The food is extraordinary and will not disappoint. The scenery makes it one of the most spectacular dining experiences on earth. The owners and hosts, Taunya and Ken, pay attention to every last detail of service and comfort. For lunch, we highly recommend the chicken panadas and the black bean quesadillas. Breakfast and Dinner were equally awesome, along with special happy hour drinks and snacks.

After a very disappointing day not getting the cruise tours we wanted, we retreated to this dockside joint. Fast, friendly service and good prices. Nice way to take the edge off before bidding adieu to Belize.

In short, I ordered a takeout $10 + hamburger medium-rare. The restaurant was moderately busy so I tried to be patient. An hour passed. After repeated assurances that my meal would be ready any minute now, I got up to leave and my order showed up. It was getting late so I paid for the order and left the restaurant. When I got back to my hotel I was even more disappointed. The burger and fries were ice cold and the meat was overcooked. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
