Wonderfully friendly welcome by the proprietor, old school in a Kiwi sense. Went out of his way. It's an old heritage hotel. Don't expect all the mod cons or you will be disappointed. All the basic needs for a very fair budget price and the balcony was great. I would go back. It's very close to the equally budget Ngawha Hot Springs which I will also review separately. Did not eat in the restaurant but stayed overnight in the hotel. Only know what the proprietor had on offer. Sounded like good Pub food but we already had a full picnic basket of our own.

I call in here at least once a fortnight for a quiet beer and something to eat. Staff are always really friendly and the food has not let me down yet. Can definitely recommend the taco....very tasty

Popped in there to enquire about watching a rugby game later that day. The barman grunted that he may not be open if there were not enough people in there before slopping the drinks we had ordered down in front of us. I was not impressed.

Been here a couple times now. Food is fairly authentic, ie, not europeanised. Always prepared well, fresh, with an acceptable wait time. I'd suggest the platter for two to gain a tasting variety.

10 minutes wait on a beer to change a keg. Advertised $5 happy hour tap beers but poured IPA and charged $12.No sorry to keep you waiting. Duty Manager Brett clearly doesn't enjoy his job.Try the wine bar across the road with craft beers on tap.

After attending the "it Wine & Food Festival" we decided to settle in for a cocktail or 4. Theeee most AMAZING cocktails served by the lovely Amy. Then we decided to eat street food. We are calamari lovers & have had many good takes on it, but the calamari at CBK was leeeegit THE BEST we have ever had. Delicious! Amazing friendly staff, primo atmosphere & awesomely priced. We cannot wait to come back. Thanks guys!

It seems the thing is to be eclectic which is okay if you deliver. Wine and beer were great but the food was a let down. Donât order the beef salad. It comes out with little inedible meatballs and a green salad. It was very unappealing. The basket of chips was great and saved the day. We didnât go back.

Very good service. Restaurant under new management. Met the owner who had had the restaurant only 2 days. Very pleasant female bar server and quick food service. I had the chicken schnitzel and my wife the crumbed dory. Both were delicious and not too expensive. The board menu was varied and included roast chicken dinner - it was Sunday! There was live music but not too loud. It seemed to be more of a jamming session. Would certainly recommend. - good luck to the new owners.

The Duke of Marlborough is a 5 Star restaurant with 5 Star service. This is the place to go for fine dining and exceptional service. All of the staff are professional waiters and know what they are doing. The kitchen was well staffed and the food was exceptional too. I enjoyed my dining experience, forgot to take photos ... but well worth a visit. I will be going back and remember to take a photo!
