Have driven passed many times and looked busy so decided to give it a try. No tables available so told to go to bar. Not a problem good selection of drinks and reasonably priced. After about 10 minutes called to table. Table was dirty, sticky with remnants of last persons meal on. Cleaned table best we could with napkins as no staff around. We ordered a standard and large carvery. Queue was short and service efficient and friendly. Turkey was fine, beef very fatty, over cooked and cut very thinly. Carrots were not cooked enough very hard had to leave them. Potatoes were ok, parsnips burnt on the bottom, broccoli cheese was ok and gravy just tepid. As it was a very cheap Sunday dinner it was okay for what you got. Not sure I would return. Hi Abi21bris, I really appreciate your honest feedback, and it will definitely be taken on board. I'm sorry for the experience you've had, and I hope you'll give us another try as this is not our usual standard.

The Plough is a gorgeous village pub with a reputation as the best place to relax, eat and enjoy yourself in the area. It has a classic country feel, whilst being very up to date in terms of its superb country food and second-to-none service and atmospher
Pre-ordered for 16 on a Saturday afternoon for my 70th birthday celebration. Our party included 2 granddaughters and a third requiring a high chair. Very friendly welcome by Bridie and her front of house colleagues and fantastic food courtesy of Aaron Tolmie and his team in the kitchen. Portions were generous and very well presented and the atmosphere so relaxed. Blessed by the weather we could play boules between courses and afterwards.Thank you to all concerned for another great meal and keep up the good work.

Super food and great beer. The pie actually had a bottom as well as a lid - delicious. Excellent choice if beers and ciders too and a really cost friendly atmosphere.

We went for a birthday meal and were very pleased. The staff were excellent and attentive. All of us were happy with our meals and I must mention the pan fried hake with sun-dried tomato and olive risotto. It was sensational. I also had a pint of Saxon and a pint of Flatcappers which were very good. The Battleaxes is a really attractive place. We had a great night.

A traditional English pub serving great food, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Regular themed food nights with Curries, Chinese, Mexican, Spanish and Italian nights throughout the year. Huge garden with purpose built BBQ area for Al Fr
This has been my local for 25 years on and off. When Dave took over he seemed to be turning things around. However in the last year he seems to have taken his foot off the pedal. This pub used to be packed but recently itâs almost empty (other than Sunday lunchtimes). Such a shame as really canât see this pub being in business next year. The wine they are serving is dreadful but charging premium prices. Thank you for your views. I appreciate feedback, both good or not so good. The business has been going through a transitional period and as such there have been a few changes recently. I have turned this pub into a thriving community pub, we do a lot for local good causes, host charity events and sponsor local organisations. it has taken me a lot of time, money and personal effort to get it to where it should be and have no intention of letting it go downhill. It would be good to have a bit more local support and feedback from people such as yourself, so please feel free to come and have a chat with either my manager or myself.

Ate here the other lunchtime, good choice of main meals and baguettes. My friends and I all chose baguettes, which came with chips and salad. The baguettes were warm with a lot of filling and a huge pile of chips. Although very quiet (it was a Monday lunchtime) the place had a nice atmosphere, I would eat here again.Thank you for taking the time to review us, we really appreciate it. We look forward to welcoming you all again soon.

Really wish I had read some recent reviews before we ate here again, but always been so good. Firstly I will say, great ambience & staff !!!! But the menu was so disappointing, kept turning it over to see where the âusual menuâ was.....sadly no more. No specials on either. Our chosen meals were 1. deep friend 2. boiled, nothing seemed freshly made, certainly not the side slaw! sorry canât be kinder. The prices were also OTT for basic pub food, even in the lovely surroundings. I am just so disappointed â¹ï¸Dear MorganLL - We have recently carried out an urgent review of our dish preparation and presentation. We are determined to make sure we offer good value, high quality and freshly prepared dishes and are supporting our Kitchen Team to make sure this happens. I am grateful for your feedback which will be shared with the whole team. Regards, Sam Roffe, The George at Backwell.
