The Boot Inn is a small country pub just a mile from the A303 and a few miles from Stonehenge we are located 7 miles from Salisbury in the pretty village of Berwick St James. With an open fire in the winter months and a large garden for dining in the summ
We felt very welcome, my son and I, having arrived a bit early for dinner. There was a lovely, very well behaved dog with his owner at the bar, which was a good advert for the pub trying to gain an award for being dog-friendly. Food was very tasty and we really enjoyed the chips served in a pint jug. It's certainly not food on a budget but was well prepared and presented. I thought £3.40 for a pint of lemonade was steep but the Wadworth 6X was good. If we had had room for home-made ice-creams, they looked very interesting. It's a lovely pub to look at, in a fine little village, with beautiful hanging baskets. We had no special requests but, earwigging on a phone conversation, it sounded like vegans could be accommodated. Many thanks for your lovely review, I am glad that you enjoyed your visit to the Boot and I would absolutely save room for some homemade ice cream next time !!

I went with a friend to this pub again as they live near it. The food was excellent and just the right portions. I had the Pigeon Pithivier pie with pancetta was exceedingly tasty. The staff were excellent and very friendly to the point that there were two desserts that we both wanted and they very kindly did a half and half plate to enable us to both enjoy them. There is plenty of choice on the menu and if it is a fine evening you can sit outside by the river. Parking is good however the pub is very busy because of the excellent food.

Set in the countryside, overlooking delightful meadows, here is a charming little English pub that has excellent food and superb service. Portions are not generous, but the quality of the food and the atmosphere more than makes up for that. The pub was spotlessly clean and the food served piping hot. In an age were it is hard for pubs to survive, here is one that deserves to go from strength to strength. Be warned, it can be very busy in the summer and rightly so. Would I recommend it? Absolutely and without hesitation.

A TRADITIONAL PUB SERVING GOOD FOOD AND ALES. Tucked away at the end of a country lane, with a big garden overlooking water meadows, it is a five minute drive from Salisbury but feels a thousand miles from the hustle and bustle of the city. This dog frien
Went her for lunch as local for me and a pub I have not been to for some years....so perhaps a bit of a gamble. I was greeted by a friendly and professional landlord who was down to earth and very easy to talk to. I was very pleasantly surprised as the food was of a good standard and well presented, The pub was very quiet with only a few others eating but was told that last Saturday is was fully booked so perhaps trade is up and down..Thank you for taking the time to write a very kind review. As with many pubs, sometimes weâre busy, sometimes not but I hope you will be back soon. Many thanks again.

Lovely hotel although a few issues Iâm sorry to say, rooms could use a freshen up,stayed 2 nights, dinner on Friday night was not up to scratch, staff didnât seem to know the menu, salad missing, mushrooms in cream sauce on sour dough bread turned out to be breaded deep fried mushrooms in a pot, when queried it became deep fried breaded mushrooms covered in a cream sauce on thick white bread,no sauces offered, was told the chef was not in,they did however offer us free pudding which was nice,Saturday morning breakfast however problems continued, the hotel was full,no staff in dining room to help, when eventually I found a server and enquired how to order breakfast I was told they were very busy and that a party of 23 had turned up Friday night and we had to wait until they had been served, not impressed, when we received our breakfast items again were missing, was rectified upon query,no cutlery on tables,no sauces,no staff available to assist diners,I actually burnt myself on the coffee machine, pastries that had been promised on the menu were sat in the kitchen to dry out for the following morning, but all that said the staff were helpful when approached with problems, but do feel these things need to be addressed, donât know if I would stay here again, the noise from the pub and nightclub across the road was awful,no double or secondary glazing to muffle the sound.

My partner had the pork belly which was not over-fatty, beautifully cooked and came with to-die-for crackling. I had the Malet burger (100% real cow) with posh cheese, perfect chips and a dressed salad. Service, even on a busy Sunday lunchtime was efficient, friendly and fuss-free. Did I mention the helpings? You won't go home hungry. While I undid my belt a couple of notches my partner finished with the cheesecake which was so light it must have been home-made. Relaxed watching a bit of cricket on the green opposite - bliss.

We stopped here as we were travelling down to the area and we had not yet had lunch. We found the Black Horse online and thought we'd see if they were still serving food. They were â just. They do a service from 1200 to 1400 and 1800 to 2000. As we had a blowout planned for the evening, we both had the soup and shared a sandwich. The sandwich was nice in a freshly backed baguette and the soup was so clearly home made roasted carrot, tomato and garlic. Along with hearty food in a charming old boozer, and a decent pint we got a warm welcome, which is not a ubiquitous as one might hope.Well done The Black Horse.

We had been to Guildford and left at about 8am , heading back to Cornwall . By the time we got to Amesbury it was time to eat . We parked easily and walked to the pub , situated in the main Street of a beautiful town full of character . Proper old pub and typical efficient and friendly Wetherspoon service . Splendid breakfast which meant that I did not need to eat again until the evening .
