Reviews on Portuguese food in Portimao, Algarve, Portugal. Portimao is a sailor’s delight, thanks to its calm waters and beautiful conditions. Plenty of elite international competitions happen here, but you don’t have to be a professional to set sail. Cruising the coast on the double-masted Santa Bernarda pirate ship is a family favorite. On dry land, you can wander the lovely Alvor boardwalk, enjoy a succulent seafood meal or zip around the go-kart track at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.

Pequeno restaurante tradicional, que se dedica á Confeçao e divulgação da comida regional algarvia.
The most typico, rustico genuine Portuguese eating and drinking experience you can get. No menu, no wine list...youâre just served great, wholesome local food. We had 7 courses, 4 carafes of red, coffee...total for two ...55 euros. Amazing night. Bustling, friendly, really good service and not rushed. Try it but book.

Excellent grilled fish
We've reviewed this restaurant twice before and were looking forward to eating here again this year. It was even better than we remembered. I always order grilled Sea Bass and it is as good as it gets here. Beautifully crispy on the outside and soft and flavoursome on the inside. All this from a charcoal grill, amazing! My wife was equally enthusiastic about the Monkfish Kebab. All this can be had with wine and beer for around £45.00. Fantastic value. Service is friendly and attentive, and they always remember you when you return the next year.

An October week in Portimao, a different restaurant each night.Reading many local reviews service seems to be an issue but not at Squash. A warm welcoming greeting from the owner/ manager and all the staff all night. I could see the same standards for everyone. The food was good quality with a platter of fresh fish and shellfish brought to our table for examination. Watch the food being cooked in the open kitchens. The deserts were home made not pre-bought frozen versions.Excellent value for money.

the house of the torch, was born at the beginning of the 20th century. In its beginning was a church, where the women before they got pregnant came asking for the blessing and light a candle. In the mid-1950s it became a grocery store, where wine was sold
In a back street and not easy to find but a beautiful interior with a wall full of wine bottles. Service good, waitress very pleasant, waiter not so.Glass of wine was light with a distinctive flavour.Main course seared tuna was a little overcooked and in too much oil.My wife's sea bream was excellent, great for a vegetarian.Cosy place well worth a visit. thank you very muchWe look forward to serving you soon.

Traditional Portuguese restaurant, where typical food from the north to the south is served. Our cuisine is homemade, with love, by Chef Paula. Since it's a family business, you will feel at home! We hope to see you soon :)
We visited this gem of a restaurant this week with friends that live in Portugal. The food is very good and was plentiful. All the food was freshly cooked and hot and extremely tasty. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially if you want traditional Portuguese cuisine. The staff and management were extremely friendly and the cost was reasonable for 4 people with 3 courses each and drinks â¬140

My wife and I recently spent 16 wonderful days in Ferragudo, this being our 5th time in the past decade that we have visited this wonderful fishing village. Each time we visit, it is an absolute must to make at least two bookings at the most popular restaurant in Ferragudo. Like our experiences in previous years, we again have experienced wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. During our two visits, we decided to sit outside. During our fist visit, my wife and I shared the the monkfish cataplana; absolutely delicious. During our second visit, my wife had the pork scallops with cream mushrooms while I had the bar-b-que spare port ribs which were some of the best tasting ribs I have every experienced. The service was very professional, friendly and efficient as well as the wonderful ambience. While we were sitting outside during our two hour dining experience, my wife and I probably counted at least 20 people or more who were turned away because they did not have reservations. This happened not only on our visit visit but also on on second visit. If you plan to come to Ferragudo for a week or less, it is highly recommended that you make reservations prior to your arrival, otherwise, you may find yourself one of those 20 people turned away at the door.

This is a place that has an amazing reputation and is so very popular most folk (I would suspect virtually all British or Irish) book by email before they come. There are so many repeat visits who like ourselves have been coming to Alvor for years. You would not just stumble on this place there is only a small door with steps leading upstairs. Downstairs is a new (to us anyway) restaurant which looked very good but was quiet. Nothing has altered in the three years since our last visit all the same family (and familiar) staff who always give a very warm welcome. The food was as always very good as is the service and wine. Great to see Richard the British Chef still holding court. However this time they seemed a little tired, as they are I suppose entitled to be coming to the end of anther extremely busy season for them. The Ruccula hasn't altered in all the years we have been coming, but I think it could now do with a little face lift and freshness, but this is small beer really when you are (A) Lucky to get a booking and (B) always have a great meal with great service.

Visited after reading the good reviews on TripAdvisor. This is a dining experience! The food is simple but put together so well with other ingredients, do try the Sardine sharing platter and amazing salad. The simple but delicious desserts are also worth a try. Would definitely recommend and will return.
