Visited for a lunchtime snack, following a walk down from the Ecological Park, before continuing our walk down the valley into Funchal. Sat outside on the terrace with nice views of the valley. Service was quick, polite and efficient. We had coffees - Chineses, that came with an additional jug of hot milk, which made for a longer drink. In addition we had garlic bread with cheese - like a mini pizza, and some chips - both were well cooked. The prices were very reasonable considering it is quite a tourist spot. Overall a nice cafe for a snack, in an excellent position and would recommend if up at Monte.

Some of our specialities are served on hot Oak Planks. The hot Oak Planka maintain a nice temperature of the food during the time the meal is consumed but without any further cooking. Pay us a visit and you will be able to enjoy the best view Funchal has

Reference point on the island of Madeira for its location in the middle mountains (Poiso). The Casa de Abrigo do Poiso is known for its famous Poncha and Acorda from the time of our grandparents. Casa de Abrigo do Poiso is to enjoy typical dishes from the
This restaurant has a fabulous local feel. We tried the local fish Black Scabbard which is a mild fish taste and the steak which comes on large metal skewers and was very tender. We were lucky enough to catch a traditional local music and dance show which was fun. I do recommend popping in.

As the reviews were very positive, we wanted to try this restaurant during our stay in Canico. We drove all the way up there and when we entered the restaurant where some locals were enjoying a beer, the only response we got was: we only open in half an hour.... oh well, thanks for the kind welcome! We went for dinner somewhere else, where we were greeted nicely and we had the feeling that someone actually wanted to have us as guests!

Outside is quite deceptive, you think this a small 3 table place, then you go in and up the stairs to a large dinning area and an outside terrace. Food was very good, as was the selection of wines. Also service was good. Only downside was the size of the room with only a few customers, also can feel a bit cold.

The Abrigo do Pastor Restaurant is located in Estrada das Carreiras (which gives access to Poiso), parish of Camacha, in Madeira Island. Located in the Serra da Camacha, this restaurant is a haven for locals and foreigners, a very typical Madeiran cuisine
First of all, the place is amazing! A rustic building, in the middle of the forest, with the decoration to match. We decided to go for the traditional so we ordered "Açorda Madeirense" and Tomato soup for starters, a "Picadinho" for the main course, and to finish off beautifully, we had a passion fruit pudding and a glass of passion fruit "Poncha". Everything was delicious, which combined with the great service and warm fireplace, made the entire meal a fantastic experience! The soups come in a quite large pot, so unless you are very hungry, two people can share one. The same for the "Picadinho",the serving is enough to feed at least 3 or 4 people.

Comida regional portuguesa
Lovely meal. We shared the Bruschetta for starters which comprised ham and tomatoes with mushrooms and parmesan shavings. For mains we had the mixed meat skewers, they were beef, chicken with pineapple with polenta and salad. For desert I had chocolate mouse with chocolate pieces, my wife had the mixed berry cheesecake. The meal was lovely, well worth a visit. At the end of the meal we were given complimentary Madeira wine.Dear Guest,Thank you so much for your visit and wonderful evaluation. We hope we can get the chance to welcome you again.Best regards,Regional Flavours.
