This restaurant is a hole-in-the wall restaurant on the very busy Acushnet Avenue in the north end of New Bedford. It is family owned and is decidedly portuguese cuisine. Having said all that, this is in my opinion the best portuguese food in New Bedford and that's saying a lot considering #1 I am portuguese and have eaten at most portuguese restaurants in the area and #2 New Bedford is the national haven for portuguese food. The restaurant is simple but clean. The food is the same. The prices are very good and the portions are generous. The wait staff is accommodating though speaking portuguese will help in the ordering. But don't be discouraged from eating here if you don't speak portuguese, the staff understands enough english to get you through the ordering process. Wonderful restaurant!

Forgot about this restaurant until it popped up while reviewing another in the area. Had been here a few years ago and loved it. I had the pistachio chicken which was a special that night and it was absolutely delicious! So I checked out the menu online and we decided to go back. It is a hidden gem and not just a pub. Our server was Melissa and she was awesome...she was the only one serving and she was spot on! Kudos to her! Also kudos to the chef who has a flair for his creativity. I had the baked haddock with lobster sauce which was wonderful and a double side of veggies enough to have another meal at home. Hubby had fish and chips and he really enjoyed it! Tasty and not greasy! And he loved the cole slaw! Great meal, great service and that's what makes you want to go back!!!

First time at the Roasted Pig after hearing positive reviews from friends over the years. We made reservations online prior to arriving which I was a little wary of - but it worked. Parking onsite is very limited but there is ample street parking.Really DO NOT like the way that the tables are arranged as there is a line of tables that are set parallel to each other for parties of two. As a couple, you are 3 feet away from the next couple which is a little uncomfortable. Seems if the tables were staggered just a little the "problem" would be solved.I had a scallop mozambique app which was wonderful. Wife had grilled octopus. I had the junior steak which was plenty big but a big tough. Serving sizes were ample. Dinner for two weekday specials looked good and reasonably priced and we will be back for those.

M & C puts on a wonderful cocktail party for 40 people. Everyone raved about the goodies that were prepared --from shrimp to scallops, to beef treats, and delicious vegetarian options. Delivered by their professional servers in a friendly manner at my home. It was fantastic. My guests were smiling and so was I.

I ate at Bom Appetite yesterday for a late lunch with a friend. We wanted authentic Portuguese food, and we got it. He had the Littlenecks Alentejana, a dish of pork and clams in a savory broth. I had the Blood Pudding with Grilled Pineapple. We washed it down with some Lancers Rose - not the high point of the meal, but the selection of wines available by the glass is very limited. There is an attached lounge, but we did not go in there. I enjoyed my meal, and plan to return with my wife. Note the spelling: it is Bom, not Bon. It's a Portuguese place, not French.

We went to Captain's Place to celebrate our best friends anniversary and we had the best time. Joe the owner of the restaurant was there and was so entertaining, friendly and an ace at keeping the restaurant going smoothly and customers happy. The food was fabulous and so very tasty. We even had fun with the customers that sat next us. We will be back!!
