Things to do in San Ramon
Texas Craft PizzaSan Ramon de AlejuelaTexas Craft Pizza is in San Ramon, just off the pista coming into town is is about 500 metres beyond the mall on the opposite side of the street. It has parking in front of the building. The restaurant is co-located with a seafood restaurant, Sal Marina, but they each have their own dining areas. We went mid-afternoon and the restaurant was not too busy. There is seating for about 60 on the pizza side of the restaurant, so it is a reasonably large area. They also have a lot of steaks on the menu, but we were there mainly for pizza on this visit. The pizza prep area is located behind glass, so you can see the pizzas being prepped and then slid into the wood fired oven. One thing I noticed that was a little different in my experience, the crust was rolled out and then cooked for a little while, then brought out and topped and then back into the oven to finish. We had four different pizzas and an order of shrimp wrapped in bacon. The shrimp dish was a good sie, with large shrimp, boiled potatoes, mix veg and a salad. The bacon wrapped shrimp were covered in a bbq sauce that took away from the flavour of the shrimp, but otherwise is was a good plate. We got three of the four pizzas that we ordered. These are a thin crispy crust pizza, very flavourful and a good amount of toppings. I prefer a thin-crust style pizza and this was right up my alley. Because you can see the prep area, you can see that the mozza is the Memberâs Selection brand from Pricesmart. No attempt to hide the brand. The fourth pizza never showed up. It was explained to us simply there was an âincident in the kitchenâ and they were not able to make any more pizzas. We couldnât see any problems, but who really knows what happened. I am guessing that they ran out of dough, because there was a lot of dough prep happening. (More on this later) We werenât informed of this until most of the food had arrived at the table, so an order of shrimp brochettes was made. The shrimp brochettes were very well done. You could taste the grill flavour. The order included corn on the cob and a salad. We had two craft beers from an Atenas brewery, pricey at 3,700 each, 1 michelado and 2 sangrias. Total for 5 was just under 53,000.Now, about my guess that they ran out of dough. Because you can view the pizza prep area, we noticed a lot of dough tubs with what I am guessing was proofed dough being brought out and readied. One thing I found really odd, was that when the dough was taken out of the bags, the bags were thrown into the wood fired pizza oven. That was a little bit of a turn off seeing that.

Storefront pizza place in downtown San Ramon (many of the streets are not named!). Very good fresh pizza. Prices are lower than in the US for a pie, but the pizza is so fresh and the ingredients are wonderful. Rather than canned tomato sauce, they put fresh sliced tomatoes on the pie with cheese! Really great for a quick meal while exploring this little town.

You have to search for Pizzeria Don Beto - it's not even the biggest pizzeria on the block. But the search is rewarding - proprietors Keren and Mainor have mastered the art of the perfect pizza (and that comes from a reviewer usually averse to hyperbole). In addition, they offer a variety of pasta dishes and their garlic bread is a very satisfying complement to any meal. Service is friendly and prompt. This place could easily become a habit! For a real treat, go upstairs & view the San Ramon street scene from the 2nd-floor balcony.
Traditional Italian cuisine in a relaxed vintage industrial decor. Wood-fire pizza with hand-made pizzas. Fine italian trattoria specialties that include pastas, meat, fish and seafood. Selection of homemade desserts. Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten-free opt
First, the good things. The restaurant has a very nice view and a very large parking lot. The average things: the food. The bad things: service is extremely slow. We had to wait for over an hour for our food. The dishes came very slowly, one by one. We could not even eat our food together. They really need to improve the service and work on their menu.

We ate here 3 years ago when we visited our friends in San Ramon and I've been dreaming of the Pizza Palmito since then. We weren't able to visit the restaurant up on the hill this time, but were able to have it delivered. I was afraid since it wasn't hot and fresh it wouldn't live up to my memory, but it was still the best pizza I've ever had. It has a bean layer instead of sauce and topped with mushrooms, palmito and cheese... it is CREATIVE, DEVINE and I can't wait to have it again! Thank you!

Delicious pizza. Nice ambience in the pub/restaurant. Each pizza is at least a 12' and can easily feed two people unless you are starving on arrival. Service was friendly and efficient. A great find when looking for some non- native Costa Rican food but not a fast food chain. Well worth the visit
