The pizza has become to the French what chicken tikka masala has become to the British - it's their favourite dish, and in most towns the pizzerias now outnumber the boulangeries. In Revel, they nearly outnumber the hairdressers as well - but not just yet. So to say that Mongelli serves the best pizza in town is no small compliment. In fact it serves the best pizza I have eaten in France (and because I live here permanently, I am obliged to eat pizza frequently because it is, after all, the de factor national dish).But seriously, Mongelli has mastered a simple formula: a big choice of perfectly-cooked pizzas, a select few desserts, a minimalist list of excellent-value-for-money wines, exceptionally friendly staff, and a stylishly-simple decor. Oh, and it's located in one of the most beautiful market squares in France.Another thing is striking: its clientele is drawn from across the ages: couples from any decade, families, friends, work colleagues. Belle surprise que cette pizzeria ! La qualité est au rendez-vous (bravo pour la pâte fine de la pizza), le diamètre de la pizza est impressionnant, et l'accueil bienveillant. Voilà un excellent resto sans prétention que je vous recommande si la faim tiraille votre estomac.

We came relatively late to this apparently popular place, as it was packed even after 21:30 P.M and we had to sit on the high bar stools. The three of us opted for differentdishes on the rather extensive menu for this kind of establishment, a cafe -brasserie. My friends had a steak tartar, very rare, and an entrecote, and I had the "nanard" burger that had a touch of a fois-gras, in addition to the beef and salad. The french fries that accompanied the steak and the burger were over done and stale, and should better not be served at all. my friends were happy though with their respective tartar and entrecote. Since they couldn't recommend any local French beer (strange!) we had a couple of Heinikens from the tap. Service was o.k, and the prices moderate.Good if you are looking for a late evening bite and friendly environment.
