The last couple of times we ordered pizza here they didn't resemble their former offerings. The crust was now... mediocre - at best {akin to cardboard}, there was less / insufficient sauce, less / insufficient cheese and less meat {sausage}. The... adjusted product is now akin to other mediocre local options - like Judy's [a place we still can't understand how it manages to remain open]. This pretty much leaves Buffo's - in Highwood, or Lou Malnati's - in either Highland Park, or Lake Forest [neither of Lou's locations in Lake County have dine-in facilities]. For our tastes, these are the only viable options in the area. Of course, neither of the latter hold a candle to Pat's of Lincoln Park [Schubert and Lincoln Ave.]. Seriously, the 1st time we experienced the new style from IL Forno's we assumed - after years of a highly acceptable product, that they either had someone new in the kitchen and/or it was an off-night. However, giving it / them another try a couple of months later and getting the same significantly mediocre - at best, 'pizza'; well, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice - shame on me. As The Who opined: ' I won't get fooled again.'

When we arrived on short notice, with a reservation it was not crowded. Smaller than many of the other Rosebud restaurants and similar menu. However, menu not quite as large and did not find some of my favorites. Service was excellent to begin with and diminished as restaurant filled up. Food was OK, but not to the level I'd expect from Rosebud chain. My lasagna was OK, but fish was dry and small portion. Small portions is not what I expect from Rosebud. Lemon drop martini was not well made. They did not have any beers I like, so ordered a Coke. Seating is bistro style and crowded. Place has no acoustic attenuation, so by the time we left it was too noisy. Frankly, bistro style noisy and crowded is not my cup of tea.
The food court at Northbrook Court is long gone but you can still get casual fare at Tony and Brunos. Their slices of pizza are actually quite good. They will also cook fresh pasta dishes right in front of you. Calzones, salads, breadsticks and gelato round out their menu. I have been there many times and the service is always polite. Not a bad place to choose if you don't have the time for one of the many sit-down, full-service restaurants that Northbrook Court has to offer.

Met up at Viccino's Pizza Company on Pfingsten Road for dinner. Called 30 minutes ahead to preorder the deep dish Viccino's Special pizza (contains sausage, mushroom, white onion, green pepper). Pizza was ready and waiting upon our arrival. We also ordered the Viccino's House Salad which was a mixture of greens and black olives.Tomato sauce smothered over everything. Toppings were pretty good. The pizza dough was rather hard toward the bottom, without taste. The pizza was quite substantial and easily fed four adults. There were hot pepper flakes shakers on the tables but no cheese shakers. Only after we finished the entire pizza did we noticed the cheese shakers were kept in the refrigerator behind the counter. Server should have brought this out to us along with the pizza. House Salad was nothing extraordinarily except that all the ingredients were fresh. Restaurant sat in a corner unit located within a large shopping center anchored by Jewel Supermarket. Tables were kept clean and tidy. Has self service sofa fountain and two hung TVs with the football game on. Restaurant operators were courteous and accommodating.

One of three in this family-run local chain. Consistently excellent food with a casual, welcoming environment, low key - go for a bit or a big meal.
When I was a kid growing up in Chicago, eating out with my family was often at one of those three iconic restaurants.Father and Son has been transplanted to Northbrook and re-branded "Marcello's," but it is still a great family-style restaurant. We usually come for the thin crust pizza, but this time we opted for pasta -- the cavatappi (olive-garlic sauce, almonds, and broccoli) and the spinach lasagna. They were both carb-satisfying.You can also created your own combo from six kinds of pasta and seven sauces, including a very good marinara sauce.

Interesting concept that has caught on- design your own pizza. Unlimited toppings for same price. They had a selection of favorites or you can design your own. Staff was super friendly. I thought the pizza was fine though I am not sure I would be a frequent guest. I am sure kids would love it though.

The night before Thanksgiving is apparently pizza night for everyone and their visiting family. Lou Malnati's is the best place to go for real Chicago Deep Dish and everyone knows it and wants to get some pizza here. We ordered on-line and the pizza was ready for us, and there was no disappointment, unlike those who walked in and waited an hour, not to mention those who just gave up and went somewhere else..... So if you want real Chicago Deep Dish (or their thin crust which was also excellent), order on-line and enjoy this pizza!
