The comforts of a friendly, small-town atmosphere combined with the pleasures of big city life make Grand Rapids an ideal choice for a fun getaway with a host of indoor and outdoor activities. Once known as the furniture capital of the world, the city has a reinvigorated downtown area and a thriving arts and cultural community. Its most popular attraction is the museum dedicated to native son Gerald R. Ford, 38th U.S. President, where interactive exhibits take you to the White House and the 1976 Republican National Convention. Wander through the state's largest tropical conservatory at the Frederik Meijer Gardens, a magical wonderland of gardens, woodlands and over 100 bronze statues by famous artists, including the 24-foot bronze horse designed by Leonardo da Vinci. More outdoor fun is a half-hour away at the sandy beaches of Lake Michigan. Golf lovers have plenty of places to hit the greens since Grand Rapids has more privately owned, daily-fee, public courses than any other U.S. city. Wind up your busy weekend with a cold beer at the Hair of the Frog Brewery or the Grand Rapids Brewing Company.

I have been here with friends and colleagues a few times. Each time, the beer selection has been extensive, bordering on overwhelming. The service is efficient. The food is OK with a focus on new takes of traditional pub grub. The high ceilings and cold sterile atmosphere combined with the very loud ambient noise level are disincentives to return. Thanks for the review Henry. We have updated our food menu. We appreciate the feedback.

I work downtown frequently on weekends and being that I was working on St. Patrick's Day I figured most restaurants would be crowded, so coworkers and I decided on Big O's because of its location. It's kind of a hidden gem due to it's unique entrance below street level.Located on Ottawa Street, just west of Monroe adjacent to the Art Museum. I had the "Super Sub". A 10" monster loaded with toppings and pizza sauce toasted, a pickle garnish and chips. Others enjoyed salad, and pasta dishes. The price range is $9-$18 range for most items. Our waitress was friendly, but not very attentive, and the bathrooms weren't the best, but adequate. Other than that I recommend this place. It's small so parties larger than 40 would be a challenge, and they don't have parking.

Stopped here with friends after the Home and Garden Show. The River Rats were finishing their last set, love hearing live music! All of the food is fabulous. We usually split a sandwich and appetizer. Today we tried the Pickle Board. The green beans and parsnips were wonderful. All of the sausages are made in house. Order any of them, ask for slight tweaks if you don't care for saurkraut. Lastly, save room for dessert and another beer. The strudel and Ollie bollen we're light and flaky, the whipped cream is the bomb! Don't miss this place!

EXPERIENCE PIETRO'S A LITTLE TASTE OF ITALY IN THE HEART OF GRAND RAPIDS, MI Pietro's is a casual Italian restaurant known for almost 40 years for its classic and signature pastas including West Michigan's number one pasta dish, Fettuccine Michael. As soo
Family from far flung places participated pleasurably in a great Italian meal delivered to our door by Pietroâs. Lasagna, spaghetti, caesar salad, breadsticks and cannoli were all well done and well received by our guests. Generous servings were so good that most of the 15 gathered still went back for seconds. A definite repeat.

We really enjoyed the location and the atmosphere and the service was excellent. We sat in the room that opens to the outdoors in nice weather via glass garage doors. We started with appetizers....bruschetta...and a sicilian wine which they let us taste before ordering a bottle. It was tasty! For dinner we tried a few different things....I had the linguini which was tasty but was a little dry (not as much sauce as I like) and didn't have as much meat as I thought it might. My wife had a sandwich (the Etna) and my daughter had the Michaelangelo pizza (she's lactose intolerant so the goat cheese was a winner). Both were very pleased with their food. We pulled up after eating half our entrees to leave room for dessert and that was a good move. The flourless chocolate cake with mousse was amazing...we split one piece three ways which was also wise since it was a large piece....Our waitress was awesome...very helpful and attentive without being intrusive. And they were busy so she was working hard and smiling right through it all.Overall a good place that we'll definitely visit again.

I have eaten here at least 30 times. They have classic pizza as well as many unique pizzaâs. If you like pizza and beer, this is the place to go. Try to go on off hours. It can get crazy during high volume times.

We really enjoyed our breakfast at Terra. We ordered the âHair of the Dog Bowlâ, âMushroom and Goat Cheese Omeletteâ, âBirthday Cake Pancakesâ and âTiramisu French Toastâ. The food was wonderful and the service excellent. They also validate for parking if you park in the adjacent lot. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and suggest you make reservations if you go on the weekend.
