You're unlikely to find yourself here by accident really. It's not very near tourist attractions or smart shops or other entertainment. You kind-of have to seek it out. We found it because TripAdvisor recommended it as a place near our hotel. We could have eaten at chain restaurants nearer to where we were staying but ... we clicked the Uber button and off we went.It was a cold Tuesday night in March and not many people were out and about - but there were people at Sorrento. Our waiter was very welcoming and kind: she brought us both the "early bird" menu and the standard one. We went for the former - just because it seemed to contain all we wanted. However there are some really lovely looking things on the standard menu that I would go back to try.We ordered a starter apiece - I had stuffed mushrooms (creamy goat's cheese, a touch of garlic, pancetta) and my partner had black pudding with goat's cheese in a garlic sauce. We loved them - but it's a good sign that we were both jealous of each other's starter. My pizza - little pieces of chicken, jalapeno peppers, cherry tomatoes and cheese - was completely delicious. A nice base too - robust and solid, but not too much so; tasty and well-textured. The jalapenos were exactly hot enough - though we were also brought two little bowls, one of chilli oil and one of home-made chilli sauce. Both were wonderful. My partner's meatball calzone was "the best calzone I have ever eaten". It looked packed with interesting flavours and the inside was moist without being sloppy. Everything came to table piping hot and beautifully presented. We had a bottle of house red - an Italian merlot - which was just perfect. Warm, fruity flavours with just a slight hint of depth and edge. Just right for pizza.Sadly we didn't have room for dessert. The home-made tirami su looked great, as did the salted-caramel cheesecake but ... we just couldn't find room. This was a shame - made us want to go back again when we had a bigger appetite. The chef came out and said hello too, which is always a nice touch. And though the restaurant wasn't really crowded, they were clearly doing a roaring trade in delivery pizza. I'm not surprised - it must be the kind of place with a really good local reputation. But Sorrento is more than that - a little oasis of delicious food in north-east Leeds, which felt warm and personal and kind on a cold evening, and a perfect antidote to soulless chain restaurant dinner. It's really, really worth a visit. Make the effort. You won't regret it. We're just looking for an excuse to go back, next time we're in the area.

This is our first choice, every time. We get a fantastic warm welcome and with their amazing service and the new decor, it really is like being in Italy. More importantly, the food is just divine. Best pizzas by far, so much so whenever we get a takeaway, we call Luigi, order then pick up. Whatever you order, the food is always superb, pizza, pasta, fish, steak, chicken and so on, its all cooked with love and is delicious. Cheap too, no fancy prices, just honest folk serving genuine Italian food. Love it!!

Great food and good service. Lovely starters of Prawns and Aubergines. Lasagne was fresh and cooked perfectly. Salmon tagliatelle was perfect. We were stuffed and went home with our left overs. Food is of a great quality and is fresh. After dinner amaretto was a nice touch. Friendly and welcoming service without being intrusive. Excellent value too.

Visited on a busy Saturday evening. Was greeted and told to wait in the bar, fair enough we were 10 mins early. Bar staff werenât eager to serve they were more interested in tidying & cleaning behind the bar. When we did get seated, & throughout the whole of the meal/visit, service was very slow and poor. Had to wait and catch a waiter for drinks, cutlery etc. Starters were good. Good portion size and nicely cooked food. Unfortunately I had to send my main back as it was inedible. By the time I had done this I didnât want a replacement as my companions had almost finished their meals. Thereâs no real atmosphere in the restaurant, it looks quite basic and itâs quite noisy so even though we were only a small group itâs hard to hear one another speaking. I have been before and enjoyed the food although I found some of it overpriced. However I have also found the service lacking before. I doubt Iâll go again. Itâs not a patch on the other local Italian.

I attended La Bella Vita with my parents on recommendation of a relative and found the venue and food outstanding. The welcome was nice and we were shown to our table. The menu was extensive with plenty of choices from pasta, pizza and main course dishes. I had the meatballs as a starter and they were very nice, and I followed up with Penne Al Tarantula. It was great to have a choice of so many dishes with a seafood option. The service was very good all evening. The dessert menu was equally appealing and very reasonably priced with all options less than £5.The only small negative was that the background music was pretty loud when we first arrived, and although it was turned down a little, I felt that it may have been a bit too loud and possibly stifled conversation across the table.
