At Zizzi we like to do things a little differently. We donât do over-complicated recipes or scrimpy portion sizes. Weâre all about the well-chosen ingredients, simply put together to make exceptional Italian food.Only a short walk, but even shorter drive,
I visited Zizzi few days ago with my friends, celebrating my birthday. Staff looked happy and they were really helpful from the beginning till the end of our dinner. I have got a candle in my dessert which was really special :) Food is tasty and we didn't have to wait for long. I am well impressed with this place.

SalVe is a typically formal way to say "hello" in Italian. At the same time the word can be divided into Sal and Ve, which are the abbreviations of two different parts of Italy: Sal like Salento, the heel of the Italian boot, and Ve like Veneto Region, wh
Came for two nights for dinner with a pal, I had previously done this a year ago, and I was not disappointed. This is a small, independent Italian restaurant and is mainly pizza and pasta but they do it very well. Several options for all courses and all of our choices over both nights were very good, they also have Moretti Italian beer on tap.The front of house staff are friendly and efficient and there is a pleasant buzz about the place. It is very handy for the 3 or 4 big chain hotels nearby and prices are very reasonable and I always would prefer to be lining the pockets of an independant place rather than one of the big soulless national chains. The only down side is that it is about 300 miles from my home so visits will sadly be few and far between but I do know that I have somewhere nice to look forward to when in the area.

Restaurant:Attractively decorated. Ample comfortable seating (divided into two sections). Conducive to dinner conversation. Clean and bathroom well designed. Wheel chair friendly. Ample parking (especially in the evenings).Service:We were warmly greeted by the manager and given a choice of tables. Alessio who looked after us provided sterling service -helpful, paced service and willing to tolerate our attempts at speaking in Italian! Our thanks.Dining Experience:Non vegetarians have a wide choice but vegetarians and vegans are equally catered for.The complimentary olives were pitted, well-seasoned and appetising. On this occasion we opted for Bruschetta and Taleggio fritto (served with a divine fig sauce) for starters and we were not disappointed. For the main course we chose Risotto Marinara (creamy, but too many clams and squids, two prawns and lacking a tad in flavouring) and Panzerotti funghi (absolutely delicious!!!!). I asked for garlic bread with mozzarella and was shocked to see its size - like a medium-sized pizza. The mixed salad was made with fresh ingredients but a little short on the dressing. We enjoyed our meal with the house wine, a Sicillian dry red. An Amaretto tiramisu rounded off the meal with pleasure. The portions are generous and presentation of the dishes is good. Service is included in the bill.On the whole we had a very pleasant dining experience and we shall be returning to sample other dishes on the menu Thumbs up!

Welcome to Basil & Grape; the newest addition to Croydonâs ever changing bar and restaurant scene! We are an Italian restaurant and wine bar boasting some of Italyâs finest labels as well as some select wines sourced from across the globe; on offer at our
I've been here twice now. The first time was great, we were served by Beth. Last night I came along with my boyfriend and we were served by Jack. Also great. Both staff members super friendly, chatty and accomodating. You could see the team working hard. It did get very busy at one point and I could tell everybody was rushed off their feet, but we were in no rush to leave and happy to wait a little longer to ensure everybody received the same level of service. The food was fantastic, presentation excellent, great portions and wide variety of meat and cheese on the sharing board for 2. Extensive wine list, great gin menu and a really lively buzz to the place but with a Mediterranean chilled out vibe at the same time. Will be back for our third visit soon, want to bring my parents to experience the Basil & Grape vibe and to try that monster sharing board for 4 A unique little gem of Croydon.... Thank you guys for a lovely night X

Nice staff, good food. At first we sat by the window, but it's a busy road, so the traffic is noisy and we moved back - no problem. We enjoyed our food and the staff were helpful and efficient. My only gripe (and why this gets just an average vote from me) is that a member of staff was on his speaker mobile phone throughout our entire lunch. At times, he moved towards the kitchen area, but was often sat a couple of tables away from us and I did find it irritating and intrusive, but I didn't complain, as my fellow three diners didn't seem too bothered (a bit on the deaf side, I think, us all being of a certain age) and I didn't want to ruin the lunch by asking him to go elsewhere. We used to come to this restaurant 30 years ago, so I wanted to see what it was like these days. I understand they have entertainment there and I would think a good evening can be had there, so do go and try it!

Fine dining Italian restaurant with class and character. A piece of Italy in the centre of East Croydon.
We visited with friends for dinner and were not impressed with the quality. The restaurant is rated highly, but I've had better tasting dishes at other restaurants'.Ambience was good and restaurant well presented.Food was not heat hot and lacking that punchy Italian flavour and taste. The pizza was average and pasta was bland.
