We decided to stop at this as one of the pizzeria style streetside restaurants on that narrow street one block off the "corniche".Well, this was an experience we did not need or want. Tiny pizzas with almost no fillings, very expensive drinks, no-no, this is not the way to do business. Not sure if Bandol is (still) suffering from inflation, as it seems that Bandol, along with Cassis, hoover the most of the well-off tourists and tourers... better luck next time with the numerous restaurants to choose from in Bandol. The neighbouring St Cyr and La Ciotat especially seem to have much better to offer.

We ordered pizza, sirloin steaks and pesto pasta. Service was ok and the location is great. However I doubt service would be as good for non-native french speakers. The food was served in large portions, but the quality wasn't that great. The meat was extremely fat and thin - probably blecause we had asked for "a point" i.e. The french version of medium-rare... The pizza was thick and hearty, but not tasty as expected, filled with cheap mozarella. The pasta was slightly overcooked. The wine was served air temperature i.e. Warm. Altogether a good place for the hungry, but not for the demanding palate.

Hidden in a small street behind the port, l'Auberge Provençale perfectly represents its region : beautiful and full of good things. Everything (I guess) is home made and served in generous portions. You'll even get the chance to taste great pizzas (and God knows pizza is always a good idea, as is french cuisine).Only drawback would be the price of the desserts, a bit too expensive compared to what you get, although the quality makes you forget about that.

Very unassuming looking place, but we'd read the good reviews so popped in. Was just what we needed on a blustery, rainy evening. Buckets of red wine for me and local beer for him, delicious pizzas (I had the moussaka with extra roasted pepper, he had the fromagere which is like a 4 cheese but with a cream base), amazing puddings and perfect service. Price was extremely reasonable and it was a really lovely meal. Very highly recommended!
