Kookootoo is a Persian restaurant which serves authentic, home cooked food in generous portions and for a reasonable price. The chef-owner, Moh Narimani, recently won 'best restaurant' in the MTM Awards. Moh started out cooking on demand and when his mail
We went for a birthday lunch. Overall, we had a great time and the food was excellent. Surprisingly high quality food.SERVICEWe booked by email - response was fast and helpful. We had one wheelchair user in our party and they were assuring in being able to accommodate this (in fact they have a ramp leading up to the front door so it was super easy). Service was good but not OTT.FOODWe ordered a variety of dishes (chicken and lamb kebab, lamb back fillet, vegan feast and the tilapia) and they were all delivered fresh and hot including the great flat bread which was fresh from the pan. Everything looked really great and was accompanied with saffron or herb rice, pickle salad and fresh chilli and yoghurt dips. The menu wasn't extensive but there were still several vegetarian and vegan options. We ordered the vegan feast which comprised of two stews, saffron rice and some dhal and was super yummy! Our favourite dishes were probably both the kebabs (the meat was good quality) and the flatbread, but we loved it all (even the professional chef in our group!) and nothing was left on our plates. They only had saffron ice cream and baklava that day, so we skipped desserts. Did we mention how good the flatbreads were?! :D Compliments to the chef!DRINKSFresh juices and Persian teas are available as well as wine and beer. We had the Persian tea with dates which was a nice social experience.VALUEThe meals averaged at £12 to £15 for a main course, which is above average for this area, but the portions are large and the sides are reasonably priced (£1.30 for flatbreads which you will want to fill up on!) We didn't have starters or desserts and our bill came to £81.00 for six people, which we thought was good value considering how happy our stomachs were!ATMOSPHEREThe restaurant is bright and homely, with lots of unique decorations. It has an inviting and informal social atmosphere as well as a lovely new deck outside for sitting out in the sun.OPENING TIMESKookootoo is open in the evenings - the only lunchtime I believe it's open on is Sunday.CONSOur only gripe was that the crockery could be a little cleaner, but they were not dirty by any means and would not deter us from returning.OVERALLWe loved this place and will definitely be returning. We would happily make a detour to Filton to eat here again.

Mezze & cocktail bar on Zetland Rd, Bristol with a large outdoor terrace perfect for group dining and drinks. Independent restaurant run by a passionate owner and team. All the food and drink is plant based and vegan friendly but is accessible to all and
I have visited here twice in the last month and can vouch for the quality, value and variety of the (Persian influenced) vegan food on offer. Staff are very friendly and helpful too. I particularly liked the local beers. Restaurant is in a great 'bohemian' area of Bristol. This place is a treasure, trust me - l eat in a lot of restaurants!

Went on a Friday evening. Absolutely lovely place. Every table was completely full and I can see why. The only small issue, they dont sell much of a choice of drink. The food and service were excellent. We will definitely be going back at some point.
