One of the most popular resort towns on the Italian Riviera, little Portofino has just over 500 permanent residents. But that all changes on summer days when the sun is shining and the yachting set drops anchor in the harbor to wander about. Boutiques, art galleries, cafes and restaurants line the tiny streets. Diving, hiking and beach-going are popular local pastimes, and there are even some historic sights like the Church of St. Martin (Divo Martino) and the Castello Brown hilltop fortress.

Capo Nord is a divine restaurant on the Ligurian coast between Santa Margherita and Portofino. It sits on the water, with stunning views over Santa Margherita.Everything was superb. We shared a sushi and sashimi platter (35Eu) for appetiser which was extremely generous and of an exceptional quality. For mains we had pastas (20-25 Eu), which were beautifully cooked, and cheesecake (8Eu) for dessert which was delicious. The service was charming and attentive, and we were delighted to be offered a digestif at the end of the night by the delightful owner. I find it hard to believe that the restaurant has been essentially rebuilt since the storms of late 2018- it is perfect! We ordered a taxi to the restaurant- highway robbery at 25 Eu for ten minutes- and enjoyed the stroll back to our hotel afterwards (forty minutes). This restaurant is in a special location, and more charming and romantic than anything else we enjoyed in Santa or Portofino.

Famiglia Portofinese, ristoratori da 6 generazioni
My bf and I decided at the last minute to spend our last full day in Italy in Portofino. We asked for restaurant recommendations from our cab driver from the train station. It was a beautiful day, and we wanted a restaurant with outdoor seating and a great view, and, obviously, spectacular food. He immediately recommended Taverna del Marinaio. We were promptly seated at a perfectly located table right next to the water. We gazed at the amazing little town of Portofino while we enjoyed a wonderful meal. To start, we shared some sort of marinated shrimp appetizer that was delicious. Then came the pasta. My boyfriend had Bolognese, which is always good, and I had the pappardelle with pesto and marinara sauce-- BEST PASTA I HAD IN MY 2 WEEKS IN ITALY!!! It was so simple yet perfect! I would eat that every day if I could! We were pretty full after the pasta, but, being seaside, we had to try some more seafood. We had the calamari and shrimp skewers, which were surprisingly light and very tasty. Our server was very attentive throughout the entire meal. I hope I make it back some day!

One of the best meals, if not the best meal we had during our 10 day trip. Staff was a bit rushed as they were closing for lunch.

The best dining experience on our trip! The previews were absolutely right. You have to have dinner here, if you are a foodie, you should try the tasting meal. Everything is made fresh with great respect to the ingredients. I opted for the a la cart dish -rosso gambero. So happy. Prawns tasted like lobster. Super delicious. My husband opted for the tasting menu. Equally happy. It's good because we shared all the food. Half bottle of wine, prosecco. Just the right portions each time. The owner treats you like family with warmth and passionate about making your meal. Be warned, Italians savor their meals. Make a reservation if possible or come early to occupy one of the 9 tables! Thank you Pasquale Thancks

We ate here recently on the advice of previous TripAdvisor reviews. The pasta appetizer was swordfish and homemade fettuccine. Excellent. The mains were the branzino and scampi. We put olive oil and a bit of salt on each, which improved the flavor by quite a bit. The scampi are sweet, unlike any shrimp you will taste in the U.S. branzino always is excellent in Italy. We had a nice bottle of Roero, though it was on the pricey side at â¬40. The lemon tart dessert was out-of-this-world good. Service was good. Itâs on the harbor.

Portofino is so full of tourists and tourist based restaurants it is hard to find a "real" Italian restaurant. We followed recommendations on Trip Advisor and were not disappointed. Menu was extensive, food was well prepared, the venue outside in front of the port was terrific, AND the service and wait staff could not have been more efficient and friendly. Menu was in English and staff communicated well in the same. Recommend this restaurant for a nice lunch in Portofino.

Tipycal ligurian Trattoria Lunch from 12.00 to 14.30 Dinner from 19.00 to 22.30 Closed on Tuesday
The 1st restaurant in Portofino & still in the same family, how awesome is that. You must try the anti-pasta starter for 2, but be warned, donât order your mains until you are finished. Lots of history all over the walls, itâs not the marina view, but what it lacks in the view, it makes up in fantastic food, wine, & service. Number 1 restaurant in Portofino for Viki & I.

Ate here on our last night. The pesto lasagna was delicious - itâs not lasagne as in layers more like strips of pasta in pesto sauce which they did point out My husband had the seafood spaghetti which he said was the best he had during our stay. Staff were very polite and attentive would recommend eating here

Went on a Monday night. Was quite quiet so no problem getting a table for 2. Made to feel very welcome. Quality food and very good wine recommendation. Friendly efficient staff. Would definitely recommend if you are visiting Rapallo. Monkfish in pistachios was really good. Reasonably priced.

A HISTORIC MANOR of the end of '800 facing the sea : location for exclusive EVENTS , new RESTAURANT
We were staying at the Grand Bristol hotel in Rapallo end of September 2016 and the weather was excellent so walking about we passed the Villa twice a day for 4 days before we worked out how to get to it as their signage was a bit lacking - but eventually went into the communal park and found the entrance gate! So glad we did. It is an oasis of calm away from the bustle and traffic of downtown Rapallo and simply stunning views from the terrace. Very romantic and nicely furnished.Had dinner and then came back for our last holiday lunch. Both times the service was attentive and the food excellent. Enjoyed the risotto with strawberries and the sea bass baked in salt - well cooked and not overdone as sadly it can be.Overall it is a cut above any other restaurant in Rapallo and we would thoroughly recommend seeking it out if you are staying in or near Rapallo.
