Beautiful venue with the best views in Lake Wanaka, barista made coffee, local wine and beer on tap, top brunching location with tasty meals and sweet treats, fabulous tapas and mains served by our happy staff for dinner from 4pm everyday.
Honestly the place looked good from the outside, we were excited to go in for brunch. The girl who served us was pretty rude. Just made us feel like she didnât want us there. We both work hospo in chch so know thereâs rough days but still... cmon. The bene was pretty weak, overpriced, hardly any hollandaise sauce. Definitely wonât return and wonât be recommending to any friends visiting Wanaka.

We popped into the shop to look for some wine and we were both very pleasantly surprised to find that there was a little bar that you could sit and relax with a beer or 2 along with some tapas. As a large group we were very happy with our meal and the service. Good coffee, eggs were very fresh and so yellow. An absolute delight. I hate pale pastey eggs. I would return just for the eggs.

We have been here a few times and love it, but this was our first time for breakfast. I had the homemade crumpet, stewed rhubarb, fresh honeycomb and clotted cream. Sounds divine? It was!!! My husband had the continental which looked lovely with lots of fresh fruit but I loved my crumpet! I just wish we lived closer so I could pop in for breakfast more often.

We spent a fantastic evening at Kota with friends this evening. The food was delicious, and being Pescatarian there was lots to choose from. We had the squid, spicy cauliflower which was sumptuous. Great service too. Highly recommended!

Local New Zealand food ,Stonegrill
We tried their stone grill. The food was delicious. The fish was delicate and the beef tender and hearty. We had a selection of veggies, and we particularly liked the yam and winter vegetables. So tasty. No room for desserts, but they did look good. Like most Wanaka restaurants, it's fully licensed.

Located in a beautiful garden setting infused with artwork from world renowned artists, overlooking the lake and mountains of Wanaka, Bistro Gentil serves wonderful modern French cuisine using only the best seasonal produce from Central Otago and it's kit
Went to Bistro Gentil last night with friends to celebrate my husbands birthday and had a wonderful night. The staff were absolutely lovely and nothing was too much trouble, they were very accommodating with the surprise cake I had made and did not charge cakeage as we all had desert as well as cake. The food was simply delicious, I absolutely loved the salmon entree and the steak I had for main was perfectly cooked and just like a little meat muffin....so tender. We have friends visiting from out of town in August so Iâm just about to make another booking, I know theyâll love it.

Just ate at this restaurant this evening & wanted to capture how good this restaurant was in a review while the flavors still lingered. One of the very best meals weâve had in recent memory. Had the salmon grande share which was some of the best fish Iâve ever had. The fish was perfectly prepared: flavorful & fresh. The salad with pomegranate dressing was so subtle, fresh, & light. Sampled 3 local wines, I appreciated the option of not having to order full glasses of each. The food was so good, we ordered dessert just to see how good it too would be. Had the apple terrine dessert with bay cream. Oh my, so good. To top it off, the service was impeccable. Bronte had a smile, was friendly without being over the top, gave us space to enjoy our meal, while also being so helpful in making our decisions about the menu, particularly the wine, which I really enjoyed our conversations about. It was very evident she knows her wine. If we didnât have a reservation already set at our next NZ city, we would consider staying another night in Wanaka just to eat here.
