Do not expect fresh or home cooked meals. Have seen more wholesome ingredients in a KFC family bucket.Staff were rude to a couple of tourists within earshot.Everything on our plates came from a packet, most likely from the freezer.Coffee wasn't terrible.

New Zealand's Oldest Pub in it's original building. Serving lovely seasonal meals, craft beer and all wines are sourced within 10km of the Inn.
While driving around the Moutere valley, we came across the Moutere Inn tucked away behind some very large bushes. Apparently, this is the New Zealand's oldest pub to remain operating in its original building, and was built in 1850 by a German immigrant called Cordt Bennseman. Over the year a few changes have taken place, electricity was installed and the large sweeping verandah was replaced when the main bar was extended in the 1960s. Now in keeping with modern trends and being a freehouse they serve a fair collection of local Craft beers, ales and wines from the surrounding area of Moutere. The Cassel and Sons Best Bitter was very tasty as was the lager, and my wifeâs Malbec Merlot had no problem disappearing. We ordered the beef burger without the BBQ sauce and shoe string fries, and also the grilled stadtwurst with sauerkraut and homemade mustard. Both dishes matched perfectly with our Adult beverages. TIP: Use your GPS as itâs a bit hard to find.

Alberta's is an urban-style cafe set on the beautiful Mapua Wharf. The focus is on providing quality house-made cafe fare and serving specialty coffee and alternative beverages, like turmeric lattes. The food has a focus on gluten-free, dairy-free & vegan
We arrived expecting it to be quiet (mid winter) but this place was busy - locals and people like ourselves popping in. We initially left as we thought it may be a while to get a table / food but we checked the menu outside and thought, nah, the food sounds great, so we went back in!We were served our hot drinks very very promptly and there was not a long wait on our food at all! Our expectations were smashed. Friendly staff - both cashier and our server - who never looked flustered or bothered. Our eggs Bene were perfect. I got the salmon while my husband got a side of sourdough. The eggs were served on a beautiful potato rosti. Sooo good.

The Sprig & Fern Tavern in Motueka is somewhat of a hidden gem set behind the busy main street. We are a traditional, friendly kiwi tavern with a bright, fresh interior. There are no TVs or pokies to distract you from enjoying the excellent craft beer and
The teachers at my school decided to go here for a farewell party because their menu advertises gluten free and vegan options, and that they accomodate dietary requirements or allergies. I spoke at length with two different servers about GF and vegan options before ordering because gluten has landed me in the hospital before and I generally keep a vegan diet. I saw a vegetarian pizza on the menu, gluten free with goat cheese. I asked if they could take the cheese off, they said no, everything is pre-made, but I also know that goat cheese isnt so hard on my digestive system like cow and I was sharing with a group so we ordered that and fries. When the meal came, the fries looked suspicious to me and everyone else at the table said "dont worry, they're just deep fried". I decided to check yet again and it turned out that yes, they are breaded, and it doesnt say so on the menu and the servers didnt know. The pizza came, it looked greasy but good, we ate it, it was delicious, and a friend ordered a second. The second was covered in mozzerella. It turns out our pizza had had mozz on it too but since it was a bit overcooked, you couldnt see it from under the veggies. Needless to say I've had a headache for going on 20 hours and it sucks. I asked to talk to the manager as 1. this could have been a dangerous situation if I hadnt triple checked and 2. why am I giving money to people that are feeding me food that I don't ask for, that isnt as advertised, and that made me sick. I was told that the managers were out of town for three weeks and I could bring it up with them when they return. Really? No one pit in charge in their absence? No one to deal with customer complaints? No one to rectify the situation for three weeks? Needless to say, I'm never going to Sprig and Fern again.

Welcome to The Smoking Barrel. Home to legendary gourmet donuts made fresh daily (actually world famous!) Low n slow American BBQ smoked meats and fresh seafood. Come inside and you'll be greeted by a cabinet full of fresh donuts. The hardest part is deci
The doughnuts seem to be a big draw card here, and rightly so they are very good. However, we ate here on Sunday night and the food was very good - interesting and tasty. Staff, service and coffee all good to. You must go at least once or twice.Important planning information - they were closed on Monday and Tuesday. Work around that.

Great food from land and sea â come on in and enjoy our seaside restaurant and bar right on the wharf at Mapua. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, come in and enjoy some great food and service with million dollar views in paradise. Enjoy the beautiful
We came here for a birthday lunch and despite being winter, the orientation of the outside deck meant sun and shelter from wind so we sat outside. The food was delicious and each dish exactly as described on the menu. The mixed platters (jellyfish board) were perfect to share amongst a group and there was local food such as smoked fish and gourmet sausages. Gluten free friend had her own platter which was done to the standard a coeliac person could safely eat it. Portions were generous and menu catered for a range of appetites and ages. We had very prompt and friendly service. Highly recommend to locals and visitors alike.

Winner of Wild Tomato magazine's best regional rural restaurant 2010 and recommended by both North and South and Cuisine magazines, Riverside Cafe is an integral part of the historic Riverside Community (est.1941). We serve fantastic fair-trade coffee, an
Last enjoyed meals at this unique cafe approx 12 years ago.. management has changed ..and the standard of food is still excellent. If you care about fresh healthy and creative food then do visit. Love love the picturesque little historic cottage covered in vines..enjoyed our meal on the verandah on a warm day..plenty of shade or sunny spots in the garden at the front and back of the cottage with a play area for children at one side..or you can sit inside. Good menu selection with a selection of baked goods on the counter. We both enjoyed hot smoked salmon tender omelettes with a fresh green mix on top and a touch of pesto on the side. Couldn't go past a slice of decadent Chocolate and caramel mud cake and Berry Frangipani slice to follow. Great coffee. Pleasant helpful service.
