Nestled in the picturesque town of Picton at the top of the South Island, New Zealand, and at the gateway to the beautiful Marlborough Sounds, is the âCrow Tavern. A home away from home for the local residents of Picton and tourists as well. Located on th
Outside this place is a huge sign claiming to be Seafood specialists. Faulse and missleading. We went in for dinner expecting a high standard of seafood dishers. It seems that all they have is a deep fryer and cook up prepacked fish fingers and fish nuggets. We asked for some nice fresh blue cod or crayfish and were promptly told we could not afford it! WHAT! How the heck would they know what we can or canot afford. It became clear that this place was a dump so we walked out and went to a real restruant.

The Jolly Roger Bar & Restaurant is a very popular spot set right on the stunning Waikawa Marina. In the colder months you can still enjoy the beautiful view while sitting in our large heated canopy area. The summer months are an extremely busy time here
My husband and I just ate here for our anniversary we ordered garlic bread that arrived with the garlic butter on the side with raw garlic, a few minutes later we had our mains delivered which only took about 10 mins in total for the whole meal to come out I had the pasta special which was disgusting tasted like water with dry chicken and obviously microwaved from frozen hence getting the food so quickly the nachos were ok but I have left with an empty stomach yes we didnât pay for the pasta but not even an apology very disappointing.

We had a meal at the RSA after at first just popping in for a drink. Two delightful couples invited us to sit with them while we had our drinks and when our ordered meal. (A beautiful roast of lamb with all the trimmings) was ready the chef came and got us with a big smile and welcome.

I canât vouch for the food but as a pub I liked it â easy to chat to the locals and a fair selection of beers plus the rugby on TV of course. Probably one of the only places to stay open after about 9 on a Sunday !

My husband and I both enjoyed a lovely brunch at Le Cafe the other morning, we both had bacon and eggs on toast (choice of how you wanted your eggs cooked) and a mocha each(it would have been good if the coffees came out the the food instead of after). The cafe sits right across the road from the sea front - it was a crisp morning but we chose to sit outside in the sun - it was a glorious day & we soon got quite hot in the sun and even had to take our jackets off. This cafe serves, meals, all types of cold/hot and alcoholic beverages. Wonderful memories - recommended :)

We heard about this restaurant from friends and decided to give it a try. Will 100% be back. Fantastic service, and delicious beautifully cooked food. Big portions will fill any hungry tummy. My steak was cooked to perfection and partners roast lamb was melt in the mouth. Can't wait to come back

Cafe Cortado is located on the Picton waterfront with beautiful views over Queen Charlotte Sound and Picton marina. We have spacious outdoor and indoor dining areas. Our a-la-carte menus include fresh nz seafood including our delicious creamy seafood chow
So many close on a Sunday afternoon but not this little gem.We sat outside in the sun munching of delicious chicken burgers and one of the tapas that they made into a main meal for me at a reasonable price.I had the fish curry and it was to die for so pick that as a tapa or ask nicely like me as not sure why you wouldnât make it a main.Price wise itâs a little up there but it was all very good and the service above and beyond.Even the coffee was good and the cranberry juice a good size.Strongly recommend!

Enjoyed a wonderful meal with our family. The team were extremely capable, food was simply delightful. Quality of ingredients was second to none and the preparation was fabulous. I love a good steak, unfortunately many restaurants simply don't deliver, they either cannot cook it as ordered or the produce quality is lacking. As a result I often avoid ordering it. On this occasion the steak was truly amazing. The seafood was fresh and flavoursome. My only recommendation would be to turn the TV off as it distracts from the dining experience. Otherwise I wholeheartedly recommend. Hi Monikakoia,Thank you very much for sharing your experience at Escape to Picton, we are glad you enjoyed your meal and we will take your advise.Hope to see you again :)Cheers,Lucia

We are a great little Bar and restaurant located in the heart of Picton, at the top of the South Island of New Zealand. Like us if you enjoyed your stay
We were excited to eat here again and weren't disappointed. It had been some time since we had been up that way. The oxley is in a great position to look out to the sea and the decor was warm and inviting. The staff were super efficient and our meals arrived quite swiftly. We both had the pork belly with apple sauce mash and slaw. It was delicious! Can I say though the pork belly didn't have a crispy skin which we were surprised at and disappointed.Hubby then had a super delicious rhubarb and apple pie and I had a red berry and citrus tart.. we loved them!Cant wait for our next trip up.. we will be back

We came here for dinner on a Friday night. The place reminded me of those homey small-town restaurants back in the US. Four of us got virtually the same thing and it was all good but a little underwhelming. In the back was this weird room with games. Sketchy isn't the correct word but it felt out of place.Since we are trying to cultivate a homey atmosphere, your comments make us feel very good. If you felt underwhelmed it would be nice to tell us why so that we can improve what we do.
