Things to do in Alexandra
Food wise KFC is much of a muchness between stores, so for what the customer experiences itâs probably the level of service that changes the most. In the case of the Alexandra KFC the service was appalling. Not just because it lacked a reasonable level of customer engagement, but because basically they are slack. One person on the counter at 6pm who was slow meant the wait for service was far too long. Itâs as though they forget that customer turnover is critical for profit. The general slackness was confirmed with the paltry portions of chips that didnât even fill the provided bags etc. This place is useless.
We were looking for a nice place, within walking distance of our hotel, for my birthday dinner. We rejected noisy pub, self-serve Thai. We picked The Carvery because it at least had white tablecloths! While bangers and mash would not ordinarily have been my choice for a special dinner, it was the thing on the menu that most attracted me. It was huge and delicious. There was quite a good wine and beer list. The waitress was very nice, friendly. The 1950-1960's decor was quite fun. The pavlova I chose for dessert was very pretty and not disappointing!

Friendly relaxed atmosphere. A sumptuous menu to satisfy any appetite. Families welcome, lovely indoor, outdoor dining. Open seven days 10.30am til 2pm, and from 6pm til close. Ample parking and great coffee. Close to Central Otago Rail Trail and walking
A fantastic way to spend the morning. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the home made treats while sipping on a nice refreshing cup of tea, coffee or what ever your desire.

Whether it be after work drinks, dancing to live music- Stadium Tavern is place to be. Located just off the main road with plethora of parking, The Stadium Tavern s the ideal lunch point of the town. So come along and enjoy a delicious meal in our restaur
Was here with a large family group for a nearby funeral. Tons of parking, but inside was cold - nobody took off their coats and there was a small gas fire barely spluttering in one corner. Dark as well which at midday was a turnoff. Ordered meals at bar. Nothing better than very basic pub meal and nothing of quality that exceeded basic.

Met old friends here. They local, us visitors. From the beginning found staff unprofessional. Loud and unsuitable comments. Girl who served had no idea on wine and completely stuffed up on our request. The food was slow to arrive, vegetables overdone apart from potatoes which were al la dente. Fish was ok. And to finish it off - three of four of us were unwell during the night. Would not return. Hi AntipodeanFrankie,I apologise your visit was not up to scratch a quick word to the waitress would have seen you sorted out at the time. I hope the rest of your visit to Alexandra was more relaxed,Best regards Benn

The Inn accepts internet bookings but signage at the location says "Closed for Winter". Keys were left on the reception door but lighting for those arriving after 5pm was poor. Rooms were nice but the lack of lighting and service staff made the experience a poor one. Come back n guys - are you open for business or just trying to collect money!!

Took a punt on this restaurant as it was near our motel. So pleasantly surprised to find a great welcoming atmosphere. Our young waiter went out of his way to seat us where we chose and gave us top service for the whole evening. We both enjoyed our meals which were served promptly. Our waiter told us a little of the history of the old building and was altogether an attentive and friendly host. He is a valuable asset to this establishment . . .just wish I could remember his name.

Situated over the Shaky Bridge that crosses the Manuherikia River, Shaky Bridge Bistro is a charming 10 minute walk from the Alexandra I-Site and the central part of town. Follow the river track or walk along Tarbert St until you see the signs for the Sha
My experience at the Shaky Bridge Bistro was simply lovely. Growing up in Alexandra I can appreciate that the location of the cafe alone gives a nice taste of the quiet and beautiful Central Otago town. Tucked in underneath clock hill, surrounded by vineyards, thyme and the shaky bridge itself, the Bistro is well worth trying. Great place to bring children, as I had family members who became unsettled and I was able to take them straight outside to have a run across the Shaky Bridge, or follow up the meal with a walk up to the clock. To top it off the food was sensational, nice to see that the new owners have done a fantastic job with the beautiful building and that there is another option in Central Otago for finer dining!

Chatto creek tavern is an award winning hotel that provides a relaxed atmosphere great food and genuine hospitality were time is measured by the glass not by the hour. We have a great garden bar and dining area.
Recommend this place for anyone on the trail for a long lunch and cold drink. It has a lovely outdoor seating area with heaps of room for all the travellers. Big meals so be hungry when you get there. Historic post office on site.
