Discover Restaurants offering the best Moroccan food in Tangier, Tangier-Tetouan Region, Morocco. Located on the Strait of Gibraltar where Africa meets Europe, Tangier has long held strategic importance. Ruled through the centuries by waves of conquerors including Romans, Vandals, Byzantines, Arabs and Portuguese, the city is more than two and a half millennia old, making it one of North Africa's most ancient. We've been to this restaurant twice, both with group tours. First time was for lunch three years ago. Second time was for dinner in November on a return visit to Tangier. The restaurant is located inside the Medina thus convenient to stay for a meal during a walking tour in the Medina. The tour guide on our last visit arranged live music and a belly dancer for our group. Maybe it was the low season, we were the only group in the entire restaurant on the second floor this time. Both times we had set menus with 3 courses (with choices for entree, beef or chicken tagine). The food was good, service was attentive, but due to its location catering to tourists (?), their prices were quite expensive in Morocco standards.

Iâve had lamb tagine more times than I can count over the last month in Morocco. This was one of the worst. Which is to say itâs been great everywhere else (including for a fraction of what I just paid in medina stalls). So it was edible despite how tough the meat was, and the service was quite good. For one of the top restaurants in Tangier I expected better.

Had dinner here and it was fantastic. Food was awesome and the comedy value was out of this world. Started off quiet with Hassan himself working and wishing 30 minutes or so it was full. People walking up the street were popping in to help and fanning the BBQ for him. No panic whatsoever. Food was just amazing. Swordfish and chicken for us both just do tasty. Canât recommend this place enough. We just stumbled across it but will he back again before we depart Tangier.

UN LIEU, TROIS AMBIANCES... OUVERT 7/7 "Café terrasse", ouvert non stop de 9 heures à 17 heures "Restaurant & Piano bar", ouvert à partir de 19:30 heures
Just finished a nice lunch, with friends whilst working in Tangier. This rustic looking resturant is located at the very top of the old town, in what seems a more affluent area.Dining was mainly outdoors, on our visit, but shaded by lovely trees and surrounded by artists drawing the scenery. The offered a small selection of key Moroccan food, which was fresh, tasty and very filling. The staff and service was good, but equally important they accepted all credit cards including VISA and AMEX.We met locals, who dined there very often and would visit ourselves, if in the old town again.

The restaurant AL MAIMOUNI is almost like a dream come true. In Moroccan Arabic, the word AL MAIMOUNI means LUCKY,also name of owners family and for those of you who love spicy North African cuisine, AL MAIMOUNI has indeed all that a house has to offer. L
This is one of those classic Trip Advisor bugs. Thereâs at least 30 restaurant better than this in Tangier. If you gonna get the food you get you should be paying coins, which for Tangier you are far from paying. The waiter insists a lot that you review them on Trip Advisor... thatâs how they did it. Really not recommended, at all, I go to Tangier every two years and certainly I will never ever come back here.

We only wanted a simple meal and that's what we got. But the food was really tasty! The lamb mince koftas and rice are really good! Staff were very nice and attentive and the prices here are very cheap. Would happily eat here again!

Reviews said to go here. Our guide said to go here. Our hotel said the same. Only Le Saveur takes no reservations and is so popular that a line forms outside on the steps of the hill leading to the Médina. So we went at a quiet time, 4 oâclock, and only had to wait on the steps for a half an hour. All this and not knowing what to expect! What you got was a unique Moroccan experience with locals far outnumbering tourists. You sit where there is an opening, the 2 of us sharing a big table for 10. You get the fixed price meal of the day, consisting of fish soup, breads and mesi, a fish and spinach something, a whole fish platter, and desert. Wow!! Was it good! And noisy and fun, with owner/waiter calling me big Boss, and winking at my wife. And on leaving, each diner received a small gift (a mug for us).My wife isnât a big fish eater but loved the whole experience.Go and enjoy.

We travelled throughout the northern part of Morocco, including Tangier, Chefchaouen, Fes, the Atlas Mountains, and Essouaria. The restaurant that stood out was Rif Kebdani in Tangier. The lamb tagine was superb, the fresh bread was warm, the atmosphere was cozy and the service was very welcoming. Definitely a memorable experience and the food highlight of the whole trip.

Ch'hiwat L'couple is a small and cosy restaurant run by a couple who make sure everything is cooked and served with love for their customers. The restaurant offers a wide range of traditional Moroccan eatery from Couscous, Tagines, to Sandwiches, soups an
Thank you TA community for your reviews that allowed me to find this place. I just had a fantastic Beef Tagine with Prunes for dinner! After having spent a week in Marrakech and arriving in Tangier today, this is the best tagine Iâve had. Beef was tender and well balanced with sweetness of the prune, not overly spicy. I think itâs the thought and patience that goes into the dish, which in a lot of overpriced touristy places in Marrakech just isnât the same. Thatâs not taking into account the price - 50 dh compared to more expensive places (usually 75-90 dh). I only have another day in Tangier and would like to have some seafood. I would otherwise consider coming here again tomorrow!

We were a family of 5, and ordered the Royal couscous and soup. The food is certainly good (although not the best Couscous I have had), but it was very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and very service minded, and we enjoyed ourselves. Definitely recommended.
