This ancient and historic city houses many buildings going back to the early Middle Ages. Until it was overtaken by Amsterdam in the Dutch Golden age, Utrecht was the most important city in the Netherlands. It was and still is the See of the Archbishop of Utrecht, the most important Catholic leader in the Netherlands. The University of Utrecht is the largest in the Netherlands. One of the unique features of the city is the wharf system in its inner canals. Before the city was fully canalized, parts of the Rhine River flowed through the city center. Most prominent of the historic buildings is the Gothic Cathedral of Saint Martin, the construction of which lasted for almost 200 year, beginning in 1254.

My sisters and I ate here one of our first nights in Utrecht - stunning food! We chose the âsurpriseâ (Chefâs Choice) menu and it was amazing. Too much food... but each dish was delicious. The servers explained each selection and were friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!

The main course was cold. Everything else was just great but cold mains ruined the meal for us.Oddly, we waited fifty five minutes between ordering our meal and the arrival of the mains. Ordered at 18.20, when six diners were present, it arrived at 19.15. The starters arrived in ten minutes, then nothing for forty five minutes. My host chose not to chase it up and as a guest who wasn't paying, I sat on my hands.I'm going to add two and two here and inagine that someone forgot us and that two almost complete plates of food were sitting in the kitchen un-noticed for ages. Can that happen? I've no idea. So, the coldest dish was cod, with asparagus and aubergine with rice and a tahini sauce. Everything except the cod was room temperature or cold and the sauce had curdled and melted onto the plate and was cold too.The starter was lovely, along with hummus and flatbread. The place has a lovely light airy feel, the folks serving were great, everyone was enjoying themselves and most reviews are very positive. Those anciliaries drag it up to three stars for us on the evidence of this visit, from two. So, I'm going with a guess that what happened to us is a rare thing. But the main really was poor. Someone hid our main courses in the fridge before they remembered and added the cod? No idea. And how to curdle tahini sauce into a cold grainy gloop? Beats me.Then a diner beside me got her cod dish in about fifteen minutes. The sauce looked perfect and the veg were steaming. It all looked wonderful. Ouch. We paid the same money. But we might go back and give them another chance. Maybe...

NICE if you come to BADHU. We serve a lot of small dishes, with Arabic flavour, to share. We also serve Arabic beer and wine and homemade cocktails. In summer you can enjoy your coffee with delicous pie or Arabian sweets or breakfast on our sunny terrace.
A Turkish restaurant in an old Bathing house, how appropriate! This time we just had coffee, but next time I would really like to try dinner at this super cosy, yet modern club-like, Turkish restaurant.

I was hosting a business dinner for 20 people and popped in the night before to check everything would be OK. All looked OK. During the day my numbers went up to 25 and the restaurant were great at moving fable and accomodating us. Staff couldnât have been more helpful. They recommend the set menu of cold meze starters which were really good.We then had a meze selection for the main course which was ok - a bit mixed in quality. Finally we had a desert plate with 4 small deserts. They werenât great.Overall loved the ambience and the service and for 25 people they catered really well.Would like to go back and eat a la Carter as think the food would be really good- appreciate its hard to cater for such a big group.
